Recently I've been appreciating how many great games there were on PS2. Im currently playing Dark Cloud 2, a level 5 rpg that was rereleased on ps4 recently, and Jak and Daxter on a scratched up ps2 disc i got at the flea market. No original case, but it was only $1 :P I think theyre both really solid games and they've got basically everything i like about rpgs and 3d platformers respectively.

What are other ps2 games I should give a shot?

Damn, Dark Cloud 2 got re-released on the PS4? Color me surprised, I'm excited, I'll have to get a PS4 now!

Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2 were two of my favorite games on the PS2.
Jak and Daxter 1-3 are great.
Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank are great games if you like Jak and Daxter.
Spyro is always fun, but I think a lot those are PS1/2 games.
Dragon Quest VII is a great PS1 game, Dragon Quest VIII is a great PS2 game. I really recommend this series if you like JRPGs.
Final Fantasy games are always fun.
Kingdom Hearts is a great PS2 game.

Man, I need to pick up a PS2 to play some of my old PS2 games. I have the games but no system. Hahah

I mostly enjoy jRPGs but some of my favorite PS2 games...

Shadow Hearts & Shadow Hearts: Covenant - Both are really good occult/supernatural themed RPGs with an interesting battle system. Disliked the 3rd one though.

Star Ocean: Til The End of Time - While not as good as the first two games IMO, it's still a strong jRPG dealing with space and technology.

Rogue Galaxy - It's similar to Star Ocean in a lot of ways, but you're basically a space pirate.

Suikoden V & IV - I liked IV, despite most fans of the series disliking it. Not a huge fan of III though. V is the best of the PS2 era.

Xenosaga series - 3rd one is the most refined/polished and most of the complaints towards the series was that it felt like it was mostly cutscenes, but it didn't really bother me since that complaint, I feel, is over-exaggerated.

Radiata Stories - Similar to the Suikoden series in terms of amount of playable characters. NPCs have schedules though depending on day/night cycle, so a little more difficult to recruit people. Two branching storylines at a certain part of the game.

Grandia II & III - I enjoyed the Grandia series (minus Xtreme). The egg system is pretty cool.

Tales of the Abyss & Tales of Legendia - I like most of the Tales series, so... no exception here.

Final Fantasy XII - Yeah, one of the few that loved XII over X. Probably because I was into XI for a while and the combat is similar.

There's more RPGs that I thought were really good, just... not as good as the above I guess. Persona 3 & 4 are decent, just prefer the original Persona games without the sim aspects added. Some I haven't gotten around to playing through yet - most of the .Hack games, Digital Devil Saga series, Wild Arms series, etc.

Other than RPGs, there were a few other games I liked on PS2 as well. Mainly... Bully, Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill series, and The Suffering series.

I second the following:

Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, Dragon Quest VIII and Shadow Hearts.

Also, any Final Fantasy game that you can play on a PS2 (particularly IX) and the Crash Bandicoot series is always fun if you like platforms.
