So, in the wake of the creation of the
[preview=Delish Vir Sleeves (Base 10)]
I wonder if it is possible to make a modified version of the original avatar with such a stance that it could hold a purse in such a manner. This would open up a whole world in the somewhat limited span of options for purses, both CW and staff made, as well as other things such as a coat slung over one arm or a shrug held in the crook of the elbow in both. These stances could be interchangeable in wardrobe. Opinions?

hands behind back etc..
I don't think this would be possible because it would mean they'd have to redraw hundreds upon thousands of items to fit the other base(s).
Other items similar to those arms would be fun though!
You basically took the words right out of my mouth.
I feel like the artists will (hopefully, at least) do more items that cover up the original base to create a different pose, but as for making a poseable avatar, nah not going to happen. I think the site is too old, too established to do something like that.
They've actually done a couple of things like this BEFORE the virgo set. There's an item to raise your arms like a classic rotting zombie, and a shawl series that makes your avatar hold a hot beverage.

I think what OP is saying, is that they want more items that change the arms, like you could have a bag/purse big enough to cover the base arm and the site artists can have more items with differing arm poses. I dont think the actual suggestion is to have a completely different avatar base, right? @ QUO (sorry for multiple pings :S) plus cw artists aren't allowed to have items that change the base pose... that's in the rules, don't ask me why there are animal legs tho, that's a weird grey area I guess Here are some more already on site official items that change the arms
And here are some on site large bags/purses that would be the kind of bags that would cover the base arm so that a differing arm pose could be drawn

Edit: nevermind, misread the OP entirely. I thought we were talking about legs. LOL
Yes, right. Exactly what said. I feel like there isn't enough variety there and a lot of the items are outdated, and in none of them can you see the hands. :) It'd just be nice for those items to get a facelift and for new items to be made utilizing different poses.
Oh okay. The way you worded it came across as you wanted an entirely new avatar base with different arms xD But yeah I am all for more base edit items!
Some skirts that edit the legs would be amazing, too.
You may want to edit the OP to make it more clear on what you are asking. "These stances could be interchangeable in wardrobe" That really makes it sound changing the avatar base itself, and not just items that mimic changes to the base. :)
I didn't know about those fans, thank you for sharing!!
I absolutely agree with you, differing legs would be equally as cool.
As I'm so thankful for all the and it's recolors
Are some grossly outdated bottom-changing items that may be usable again if they were revamped.
Personally I would like to have the opportunity to use something like example 1, example 2
Inb4 "TOO MUCH TO REDRAW."
Despite that, this has my complete support.

Speaking of grossly outdated bottom changing items ... There is a motorcycle somewhere that actually has legs attached. I can't remember the name right now, and I can't find it in SL, but I know it's not the sprocket items which also give you a motorcycle.
Those examples sitting on the post I feel like could work, and would be fun for summer.

Additional arm and leg poses would be wonderful - however - as someone who uses the zombie skins 90% of the time, I am happy for this to be done like the examples:
with the limbs clothed/blanketed/covered:
A: saves staff having to recolour for every base B Useable by zombies/zapper skins
Also the updates/ideas suggested by sound great too. Maybe options with shorts/skirt & opaque tights & shoes or trousers & boots or shoes for more varied uses?
I'd also love a sitting down avatar, but I think the main problem is that they have to actually draw something to cover the legs? Or something? Like with the wheelchairs it has the blankets covering them rather than showing the legs.
If they did something where the avatar is sitting down (like the big chairs, but better, possibly work with this idea as a revamping of that item) they would have to probably do: pants, skirts both short and long, and maybe shorts as well. But also shoes. What kind of shoes? Do they do different kinds of shoes? Different colors for different types of shoes? And Recolors of the pants, skirts and shorts. With probably recolors of the chair as well. Oh yeah. And if it shows skin, recolors to match all the main skin bases.
It might be a lot of different "recolors" for the same idea but I think if they released a basic color of each style (pants, skirts, shorts) and it's received very well, they can move on to making more colors for each style.
I also agree with more arm poses to include big purses! I think the hand bag on arm example in the OP would work well, where the purse covers where the base arm would be, allowing for a new drawn-on arm at that angle. But then also are there sleeves involved? Is it attached to the shirt? what kind of shirt? what colors?
When doing these pose changing items it's not only a matter of what the recolors will be, but also the style, and I think that's where it gets tricky, because rather than special items like the straightjacket, people want normal clothes in an every day setting. But everyone dresses differently with different styles and there will probably be endless item styles and recolors to cover.
[ITEM=Impossibly Cool Biker Jacket] xD
heya bab, check out both my suggestion posts above!! I feel like we are in agreeance?! <3
