I get into some really long smails. Like books. It gets super long and I'm not a huge fan of scrolling down to the bottom to respond cause sometimes its like five different subjects so I keep scrolling back and forth to get to it all. Don't want to just keep making new messages either tho cause I like that I can look back at older messages and I have that record there without opening a whole bunch of new links. So my proposal is that we move the reply box to the top. I dont code but it seems simple-ish then other things we could do. So even if you do have a long message its not scrolling though a month's worth of conversation. I know that something like this means we need a programmer and program things seems to take the longest to update but I think its worth it and just for this to be on the back burner would be nice.

Thoughts?

I support this idea as it makes it quicker to reply without having to scroll downwards to do so.

an s-mail revamp has been long overdue for a while so I'd be open to having a full revamp in place.

My sMail inbox and outbox are too small. I'd love an archiving system along with the overhaul.

Here is a super fast and simple modification to the code that could be done by staff, that would provide a good temporary solution (while we wait for a full revamp):

1. Put a named anchor tag (or slap an ID on some element) at the very bottom of the message.
2. At the top of the message, add a link that says "Jump to bottom" with an href to that ID or anchor name.

That is, at the bottom, they could have:

And then at the top just do:

But staff programmers should note that it's better to use an ID rather than an empty anchor tag, because trying to jump to empty anchor tags will give problems in certain versions of Firefox (haven't checked the most recent versions though). So rather than the first bit of code there, it may be better to put id="message-bottom" on some element at the bottom of the message, or the reply box/button itself.

Priorities.

Unfortunately, sMail works relatively well right now. There's other things that need fixes far sooner than sMail, imo. I still support a revamp.

I would still love a larger inbox and outbox, as well as a way to organize and archive our sMail.
