At the moment Im filling up some slots for some Harry Potter inspired/based dresses, and my attempt at the CI for them...Its ok when 'full size', but when shrunk down to 64x64, not so much.

Right now, they look like this

Its supposed to be a scarf-thing in the house colors with a 'badge' featuring the first letter of the name of each house (there is an R for Ravenclaw...Yes, I know the mascot is an eagle, but ravens are smart, and Ravenclaw is full of smart people...)

SInce there's two versions of each dress ('plain' and 'embroidered'), Id need two different CIs (if it can be something I can change the colors on myself to save you/the artist time, thats good!)

Im not sure what to offer in terms of payment, but a slot on one of the dresses works for me, or CSC. Just post some examples, and what prices you're asking for and I'lll get back to you :)

Did you want these to be very similar to your current ideas, or changed? (If this is for a dress, the item needs to pertain to a dress. Maybe a scrap of fabric instead of a scarf?) I think the original idea that was suggested to me was some sort of trim, but my brain went BLARP and my hands did scarf.

I really wanted to do something like a mannequin or ssomething, but it seems a bit overdone. Next idea was something to do with the mascot as a 'logo' on a gift box of sorts thats a bit related to the colors of the hosue (but my ability to art isnt that great as you can see).

If you would like for me to stick to the idea you have, I don't mind accepting a copy of the item as payment or 500csc. If however you'd like me to do one entirely from scratch, depending on complexity that would be 700-1000 csc.

For basic recolors since it's item only I'd charge 100csc each. If you'd like the PSD yourself so you can recolor it, I'd charge the price x2 (so if it was 500csc[first option], then it would be 1000csc total and you could make as many recolors as you wanted.)

Sounds reasonable to me.

Do you have any specific ideas for making it from scratch? My original idea seems kinda...ok for a scarf, or fabric belt...Not so much for dresses.

You said you kind of liked the idea of a mannequin, but felt it was overdone. I don't see a lot of full body fashion dolls though. So that's an option. Or a sheet of parchment with a drawing of a dress on it. Maybe with a quill next to it.

One of the allowed pets (cat / rat / owl / etc) with a scrap of fabric perhaps in it's mouth?

You could pretty much do anything resting on / wrapped with fabric (A wand, a quill, a scroll, a candle, a broomstick)

Lastly perhaps a dress itself with a dance ticket next to it or an open invitation laid on it?

Which of those ideas would be in what price range? (Im guessing in the 700 to 1000 range you mentioned).

I would really like the one with the different animals, but at the moment the cost of 2800-4000CSC for a set of four is out of my range. The x2 cost for doing recolors myself is more...affordable?

Actually...The dress with the dance ticket/invite (or just the invite?) seeks like a good idea, since I remember someone mentioning that the Masquerade is coming up soon...

If you wanted one animal (let's say an owl) and just wanted it recolored four times by me, I'd be 1300 csc. (1000 for the item, 300 for three recolors) If you wanted a different animal for each recolor, I'd have to charge the full 1000csc for each because those are entirely different items and not recolors on my part (even if the dress is the same, my work would be quadruple).

For a dress with a ticket/invite it would be 1200csc total. (900 for the item, 300 for the three recolors.)

Yeah. Not much of a difference (the plain and 'embroidered' versions), but still 8 dresses.

Okay. I think I get it now.

In the case of the animals, if you picked one animal with all recolors, it would be 1000csc(item) +700csc(recolors) = 1700csc If you wanted four animals and a recolor for the dresses with the embroidering it would be 1000cscx4(items) + 400csc(recolors) = 4400csc

The dress plus ticket would be 900csc(item) +700csc(recolors) = 1600csc

Personally my suggestion if you're on a budget would be to either do the dress/invite option OR pick one animal that comes in many different patterns (Owls come in a lot of patterns, so do cats, etc.) I also advise letting me do the recolors, instead of purchasing the PSD since it would be cheaper for you that way.

Why do I have to make hard choices?

Seeing as the dances at Hogwarts (or my as yet un-named school that has 4 different houses with their own colors and mascots) involve invitations, Im leaning more towards the dress/ticket idea.

That works for me :D. Im in the process of screwing around with a CW idea that might not see the night of day (beyond showing off progress pictures and whantnot of it), and gathering stff for my 'Snowball Team',so I won't be all...twitchy waiting for a reply XD
