Lot - Description: What 'law' or 'angle', was known even before the publication of Velikovsky's most infamous book and disproved its central claims? Provide Velikovsky's claim AND the disproving theory or evidence, and get this item for FREE!

[Answered correctly by poppet: The law of conservation of energy, and conservation of angular momentum in accordance with Newton's laws of motion, disprove Velikovsky's claim that Venus was ejected from Jupiter as a comet or comet-like object and passed near and upset Earth.]

If this were true, we'd have a drastically different Solar System; the moon would have been kicked out of its orbit at least. As well, the small orbital inclinations of Mars and Venus, how close they are to the plane of the other planets in our system, are not consistent with such a dramatic event. Also, the energy displaced by such a proposal would be enough to melt at least Earth and Mars, of which we find no evidence. This information has been around since Kepler, and thus is enough to disprove 'When Worlds Collide' even without the information various crafts have since gathered on Venus as a solid world and not ejecta from Jupiter or even a recent immigrant to the inner system at all.
