Hi everybody. Would you like to help me price my art? I've done a couple for 30m each - which appears to be less than the average 500 credit gift card - but I see it's not uncommon for artists to charge much more.
My qualm is that I felt perhaps $5.00 a pop isn't very cost or time effective for me. I simply would like to know whether 30-40m is reasonable (in which I would not change prices) or if I could pass with higher prices (ideally). Can somebody give me a fair indication of what I could do?
Here are some examples of the basic full body pic I would offer.
Love your art, first of all ^^
I think you could definitely "get away with" charging higher, perhaps $10-15. However, it just means perhaps lower traffic? I'm just getting back into the art market myself, so I'm unsure about how high demand is now. Definitely looks like you have great proportion and color control, as well as a unique style, so I could see you doing just fine charging higher :D
Also, cost effectiveness is really important I think. I do a lot of offsite art, and I think what's most important is that you don't undervalue your own art ^^ Even if less people are willing to pay, it means you feel better about the quality and your time that is well spent for the higher price. So if that piece takes you two hours, think about how much you'd like to be compensated for your time?
I feel like a bit of a hypocrite since I just posted my own pricing thread, but I think it's a good rule ^^ I have a price range in mind, but I just want to see if people would feel that is fair! So maybe ask this forum if there's interest in YOUR comfort price range for your art :)
Again, lovely art, and hopefully I didn't come off as demanding or anything, just thought this was a super interesting topic and wanted to give my own two cents XD
@BALLET Thanks for writing such a detailed response, I appreciate it and that was all exactly what I needed :) I think $5 isn't worth the amount of energy I put into it, but you're definitely right in pointing out that we do have to consider accessibility! Very helpful, thank you <3
