So I just got my first job and have some discretionary income, so I decided to buy a 3DS! Fancy. However, besides Pokemon and Animal Crossing, I don't know what games to get. Does anyone have any recommendations? I like RPGs and simulation games, but I'll play literally anything.

if you like rpgs get Fantasy Life. its a really good rpg game that has a lot of classes.

Majoras mask and a link between worlds if you're a fan of Zelda games too 0: Tomodachi life is also a goodie, Miis in an apartment and you play god. Basically Nintendo sims. also pheonix wright ace attorney dual destinies was good, I'd recommend that :0

'fire emblem: awakening' is easily one of the best 3ds games imho, even if you haven't played any other fe games.

Fire Emblem Awakening is possibly my favourite 3DS title. It's a turn-based strategy game that offers heaps of replayability and depth and has a cast of great characters that you'll grow to love. The sequel is coming in the US soon, too (no Europe date confirmed yet), so if you enjoy it you can dive right in.

Bravely Default is worth a shout, too. Great if you love JPRGs, like old-school Final Fantasy. It's quite tough, too, which makes it that much more enjoyable for me. It's not the perfect game, but the pros totally outweigh the cons for me. The job system is a lot of fun and a total throwback.
