So I can't figure on any specific comic areas (feel free to move if this belongs in one of the other spots), but... Transformers: MTMTE! The mood whiplash-y space opera focusing on a dysfunctional crew of giant robots on a journey to do Very Big Things. Anyone else read it?
(I just read , that having been released today, and I'm sort of screaming internally. Probably will be for the next several hours. How about you guys?)
" Okay, so you’ve made some bad decisions. You’ve hurt people. You’ve hurt yourself. You’ve stumbled through life from one self-inflicted disaster to the next without anything even approaching a plan. To which I say: welcome aboard. Maybe you’re not good... but you’re sure as hell good enough. "
My fandom began in 2000 with the Robots in Disguise of the time. I still have the Autobot named X-brawn, who has an honored place in my displays. But I also washed my hands of anything thereafter, the designs for the figures is appalling. What little exposure has only whittled away the remaining interest.
If it matters, I choose to be rouge. But also a Cybertronian who has become infected with organic matter in an irreversible manner. Not unlike a character for another reality, who is an organic infected with non-biological life.
/waves My main online hangout caught the giant robot fever sometime late 2015 I think, I held out until early 2016 before I succumbed and bingeread, although I still have to catch up on its sister series exRID ::O I'm mostly sore that Hasbro won't release MTMTE toys, the others are so ugly...
But yeah, it's ridiculous how much Roberts' writing style makes me feel about giant space robots. Me, who has never had any interest in Transformers. I love everyone on Rodimus' partyship/ptsd central. Screaming is sort of an integral part of reading this series, omg.
If I had to pick a fave, Nautica. Precious nerdy scientist. (Closely followed by Cyclonus, Tailgate, Whirl, Drift, and Ravage. And Windblade, if we're counting exRID.) (Also primusdamn, Rodimus needs AD(H)D meds. And I'm saying this as an ADD person. Poor mech.)
A strange buzzing sound, occasionally varying in pitch. Speak wind, and cast the world into chaos.
