OK SO SCROLLS. LET'S SOLVE THIS. HERE WE GO.
A newly-penned scroll. You can make out part of a riddle. "What moves on four legs in the spring..." Perhaps another scroll continues it.
A scroll found submerged in an old clay pot. You can make out part of a continuing riddle. "...what moves on two legs in the summer..."
This book was left out in the elements, its pages as brittle as a dead leaf. You can make out part of a continuing riddle, "...what moves on three legs in autumn..."
A frozen scroll that finishes the riddle, "...if you know the answer, take our authors to them and our master shall reward you."
Thoughts
It's the classic sphinx riddle, and the answer is usually "man" (because babies crawl, adults walk on two legs, and the elderly walk with canes). But I think that's too general here?
The Wizard carries a staff, but I just did a quest for him and he doesn't seem to care.
Weren't time zones introduced this year? Like maps have day/night cycles. I don't know if that will matter at all.
The trinkets all awarded wearable weapons/armor, and the scroll riddle is supposed to be a challenger. Maybe the solution has to do with the coliseum? Reischen or something?

Do we need the minions though? I don't have the 4th scroll yet, I went for the shield first instead but the winter scroll does say "take our authors"
Also, all the riddle items are damaged except for Spring (so Coliseum is probably a good start). I hadn't thought that far yet, I got kind of hung up on the fact that two have to do with water damage.

The way it's phrased has me thinking we do need the minions, but I don't want to rush and and get them until I have a better idea of what to even do with them. :P
It's weird though because I thought we'd need the four scrolls in our inventory to solve it, but it almost sounds like we don't need them at all now? Or... we need everything (all 40mil worth of items). Which I guess is reasonable considering the price of CS challengers.
"Them" is kind of throwing me off ("take our authors to them"). At first I thought it was plural, but maybe they're using it as a gender-neutral singular? Is the sphinx supposed to be an NPC we know? That's... unexpected.
Agreed per that gorgeous coat as well as the sphinx clues listed representing the 4 stages of life and the 4 seasons. The trinket clue says "My time draws to an end, but before I go -- I have my reasons -- I wish to witness a generous act of giving performed as many times as there are seasons."
"take our authors to them" could represent an NPC, a "person". My first thought was Charity, which didn't work. Im not sure if I had both the trinket and scroll in my inventory when I donated 4 items so I can't cross that off my ideas list but I have to get the new items entered before I try it again.
Any thoughts as to what the "take our authors to them" represents? That has me stumped.

Sphinx Scrolls Riddle
I put the four Sphinx minions in my inventory, went to the Wizard Quest page, and got the Ancient Sphinx challenger. But it took the minions out of my account, though, so be warned.
Any idea what we're supposed to do with the Winter Sphinx Trinket? I've tried a few things and so far nothing's worked.

"Them" could just be gender-neutral so as not to give anything away. Unless it's four NPCs maybe? Like delivering the scrolls/probably the fucking minions I didn't buy each to a different NPC?
What about somewhere in Shengui Guo? It's a new area on the map, it's surrounded by water, a tome there would certainly have been left out in the elements and mountains means the potential for snow as far as I'm concerned?
Also vague theme in the other MC items for winter [edit] That's it, seriously? >:( But awesome guess I bought some bullshit things I didn't need in /every other season/
Trinket solution
You have to send gifts through the gift center option where you put in the username and an amount of money. You have to do it 4 times; I'm not sure if the amount is relevant (since it says "generous") but I did 1m for each of them and got the shield

I've been telling people all year long that they'd need all the scrolls for the final riddle, and now I'm just like

Nope, just the four minions. Which works out for me, since I read all the scrolls to one of my pets. But which actually doesn't work out for me, because I lost all my sphinxes. shakes fist
The Ancient Sphinx has 10k HP, btw, so anybody with low-level weenie battle pets like me probably shouldn't waste the 20mil. :Þ
Oh, thanks, that makes sense but would've taken me 50 years to twig onto. And yeah... I just took an unexpected loss of 20mil worth of items to unlock a challenger I can't beat, so I'm not thrilled. :/
Can you tell me the speed of the sphinx? 10k hp doesn't really help me haha but I usually go by speed and I'm afraid I'm going to need to buy those shitty minions (also I pinged you with the winter trinket solution in case you didn't see it)
It makes sense, considering for every single trinket we needed the items WITH the riddle in them :L Damnit I should have left my reliefs whole

Why is the Autumn Sphinx a standalone item in the MC, and how did I never notice this until now. o.o It's the only one not in a relief.
Pffft. NOW I HAVE THESE SCROLLS AND NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. (I can't battle the challenger and I don't have enough SP to get the minions.) AHhhh welll. -shoves books into Pet TCs-
In other news, WHY IS WINTER the time I decide I like all of the MC items? GAH.
