Does anyone else here have this game? I noticed it's getting a lot of hate for being "boring". I feel like I'm in the minority because I actually enjoy it a lot. It's really a nice way to unwind, like all of the other AC games.

Some of the mini games are quite frustrating though! I haven't tried all of them yet, but the acorn one get me super flustered. I can't even get past level one. lmao

Anyway, discuss! Opinions on the game? Favorite/least favorite part? Favorite amiibos? Any amiibos you're hoping for/looking forward to?

I've just seen this game and it looks a lot like Mario Party. have you played mario party at all to make the comparison?

It's not really much like Mario Party, actually. I thought it was going to be similar, but it's pretty different!

The mini-games are separate from the actual board game. The board game is more like Life, where each space has some sort of event that gives or takes away happiness and bells. The mini-games are sort of just bonus, and you can earn extra tickets which you use to unlock more mini-games or buildings for your board game town.

Okay interesting. I will think about getting it some day then. I was sure it was going to be a mario party clone .p

I got my gf the amiibo set with the llamas and kk as an xmas gift for home designer which I also got her, so I think they are compatible with both games.

Yeah, I wouldn't rush to get the game, honestly. It's fun, but not something to buy asap, unless you're an amiibo collector and really want the Digby amiibo.

I'm not 100% sure that the amiibos are compatible with HHD, actually. I know some of them supposedly are, but I haven't tested it out myself yet.

I like it also. You have to keep playing to unlock more things. The one thing that bugs me is that the part where you can place an amiibo card on to make that character roll the dice for you .. well I noticed that some of my amiibo cards don't work for it. I don't know why tho. If I try with some of them, my normal figurine type amiibo will shake his/her head No. Other ones, they switch and the card amiibo character comes out to roll for me.

I haven't tried any amiibo cards for dice rolling yet, mostly because I don't really see the point. lol The chance of rolling the number on the card isn't high enough for me to try. Also, I keep forgetting the amiibo cards at my house and the game is at my bf's house. xD

I have no idea why that would be happening though. Are the ones that don't work the special cards? Or are they just random ones that don't work?

I've tried both regular and sparkly cards. We get 3 cards with the game and they all work, but I've got some first wave cards to use in HHD and it seems random as to which ones work. The card amiibo also make it so that villager can host games or move into a house on your gameboard. Fauna is my favorite and I've got her card so she's already done both! I've not played too often so I don't know what else it may unlock for them. I asked about this issue on the community forums at Nintendo but haven't gotten a response. I wonder if I should call Nintendo support or something.

I knew about the house and hosting thing, and I can't wait to have some cute villagers in my board game town. I'm not really a fan of the tree villagers that come with the game.

Maybe the cards that don't work are the ones you have saved HHD data to? They can't have more than one game saved on them at once, so perhaps they just don't work so that this game doesn't override the HHD data.

I don't have HHD tho yet. I just got some cards ahead of time since I heard we could use them in AF. It remains a mystery!

Huh, that's really strange then! o-o I'll have to test out some of my cards soon just to see what happens!

The cards and figurines are interchangeable between Happy Home Designer and Amiibo Festival!
