So apparently even though a banned users trades won't show up in the trade center, the user shop search will still say that the item can be found in trades. This can be quite confusing if there is none of that item in a trade by any legitimate user.

oh sorry not a clue since its so situational. i just happened to know an item that a recently banned user had at that time.
