So a year ago I started becoming tremendously interested in clay. Ever since I was really young I have been drawing, but strangely since three- thats right THREE- years ago I hit some sort of art block and wasn't able to draw anything! I tried and tried but it always ended with me throwing down my pencil in a huff and storming off. Inwardly I had so much built up creativity that seriously just Needed to come out and be apart of life, so I started searching for something- anything else I could do to vent this creativity. I found sculpting! I love sculpting! It brings out not only my creativity but it puts it into a 3D form! in which I feel like Dr. Frankenstein - It's Alive! Haha.
I found that sculpting, like all arts, is challenging and to to put it bluntly a pain in the... butt.. haha! but with the help of the internet, youtube, and a lot of craft store coupons I found it to be a very rewarding process!
Things I have made: My first one: Catburger (essentially a cat on a cheesburger) "Chibi" Sunbro from Dark souls Eevee - Pokemon .. like you didn't know that.. Vault Boy from Fallout Link from the Zelda games and the one I am currently working on is a Christmas gift for my significant other: a large sculpt of Jason (from the slasher films) since he favors Halloween over Christmas haha!
Does anyone else sculpt or have any awesome ideas for me!? I love suggestion and I would LOVE to hear from other artists, be it drawing or sculpting, or anything else!
Funny enough I just got into sculpting! and for the same reasons haha (drawing has been hurting my brain recently).. Um I've done mostly small stuff so far, A lot of pokemon art, and misc fan art.. I'd like to try a full sized piece soon. XD
Vault Boy is an epic Idea btw! I've been really excited to get the new fallout.. <3 but anyways..
I recently made a claptrap figure from borderlands. c: Umm as for ideas.. What kinda games or movies are you into? Ohh also been meaning to try a zombie! >: )
I just recently got into clay sculpting too. I used to do a lot of model magic sculpting, but clay is much easier, and lasts longer. I find getting the time to sit down and sculpt the the hardest. I've been using sculpey, so every layer/section needs at least 15 minutes in the oven.
Clay is so much fun! Personally, I love trying to make hyper-realistic miniature food with polymer clays. It's fun coming up with different ways to impart texture to the clay, like making tiny slices of bread look like they might actually have crumbs and a crust.
I love using clay! I never figured I would love it so much, because I had always used two-dimensional supplies to make art (paint, charcoal, etc.). It's great that I was able to find this out sooner, since I have to pick my focus soon (I'm an art student), and I might end up choosing sculpture! I find it so much more enjoyable working with my hands to create something three-dimensional! ^^
I do hand building of dragons (mainly), but have branched into fairies, horses, and other animals with clay at a private studio. I'd like to try my hand at polymer or femo. I've recently branched into acrylic painting, linoleum print carving (then inking them into prints/embossed etc). I also knit.

Ive been sculpting for years but got diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis so stopped using polymer clay altogether and am working only with paper clay which I already hugely preferred. Its so easier to work with. No matter what you sculpt you must try it. It's light weight, air dry, not messy, easy to clean, you can sand it and add more on later. Polymer is very hard and heavy so it only has so many uses.
I've been sculpting a few things now, hahaha. I like using sculpey living doll clay, it's got a rubbery feel to it after it's baked.
I really would like to get into clay sculpting this year but I have no funds nor have any idea on how to get into it. Do any of you have any photos of your projects? :)
Sculptey tends to be my go-to clay. I've used fimo and the like, but it's not quite the same. Super Sculptey Original tends to be my favorite, as it's still soft but hard enough to hold detail well. It also smells like bubblegum- which is amazing.
Fanart is always a great way to get inspired! I also like to craft critters and other things. Sometimes I'll sketch down ideas or inspirations.
