I am so damn excited. I preordered Fallout 4 and it comes out tomorrow. But I am also pissed off because I have to work from 8:00-4:30 tomorrow. Ugh. I don't want to work, I want to play Fallout all day. Totally tempted to call in sick tomorrow. But I guess I'll be a good girl and go to work. Dun wanna though.

So anyone else going to get it tomorrow?

SO excited. I had to cancel my preorder (boo, hospital bills) but hopefully I can get it this weekend or next week. The reviews are looking great.

Which parts are you most excited for? I'm really into the settlement-building thing.

I'm into the whoooooole thing, lol. My best friend is obsessed with the dog. And in Fallout 3 she was obsessed with collecting teddy bears and putting them in her house. She had hundreds. XD I just really hope they didn't change the battle system too much. I really like the aiming thing with the percentages. As far as the previews go though, it looks the same so I think I'm going to be very happy. I'm thinking the settlement-building thing is going to be pretty great though, yeah. I can see myself totally spending hours just doing that. I can't wait until tomorrow, lol. As soon as I get out of work, I am flooring it over to Game Stop, grabbing it, and spending the next 12 hours in front of the tv. I really hope you can get your copy soon! I know how it is to really want something and not be able to afford it.

I agree with the overall excitement! It looks like they've redone VATS for this version, but it's still there - I like that too. Ahhhhh I'm also just so stoked for a new world that's SO MUCH BIGGER. And the dog, yes. :P I'm trying to remember if I did anything funny like that in 3 or New Vegas, but I'm really just a serial searcher...no trash can goes untouched.

And thank you!! It was frustrating having to cancel, but I realized pretty quickly that the FOMO I anticipated feeling probably wouldn't happen...I'm just almost never around people who play video games except my husband, and we'll be sharing a copy anyway, heh.

I'm mega excited for tomorrow.... even though I' going to hold off on seeing game play or reviews until my SO gets their copy so I don't spoil anything. Since they're getting their pipboy edition a little late, I prepared a quest for them that has them going all around town and ending up back at home where a Vault-Tec acceptance letter and a supply cache full of goodies [an ammunitions box filled with a 10mm pistol prop I made, a You're SPECIAL book, a Guns and Ammo magazine, a couple ammo boxes for the 10mm that will be filled with candy, mentats (altoids), I edited some bottle caps into nuka cola and nuka cola quantum, and some other stuff] will be waiting for them.

I'm looking forward to just how customizable everything looks, and the armor layering system looks both frustrating and glorious.

I didn't preorder it because I was a little nervous and don't agree with the concept of preordering in general, but now that first thoughts are out I'll probably get it since I loved all the other games save FO3. Gotta wait until I build my new computer though, as my current one farts if I play anything newish on it. I'm really excited now, especially since it's confirmed to have gay/poly romances, as that's been one of my favorite things about 2/FNV. (well, I guess there weren't really "romances" in FNV but there were gay companions)

I got my copy on Wednesday! I haven't been able to binge play like the old days (single mom, 3y/o is a backseat gamer) but I've gotten to level 5 so far. I am sooooo loving the game. They've greatly improved mechanics and it's geared more like Skyrim now, and the story-line so far was pretty intense. 4.5 hours of game play so far.

Protip: Don't wander to the outskirts of the right side of the map if you're still low level. I immediately regretted everything.

I love Bethesda games at release, so many bugs that are so funny. It's like Christmas came early! Lots of disappearing eyeballs, XP glitches, and broken subtitles.

As fun as it is to muck around and shoot stuff, I can't help but feel disappointed by the player's dialogue choices in FO4. One of my favorite parts of NV was the wide array of things the Courier could say regarding any given situation, and now it feels just like "yes" "no" and "explain further". It seems like graphics were prioritized over characterization and it really takes me out of the game entirely. I want to get inside my Survivor's head and respond to people in ways the game doesn't allow. What's the point of a pretty landscape if I can't immerse myself in the protagonist?

that reminds me in New Vegas I walked the wrong way in a forked path to try to get to Vegas faster and promptly got my ass handed to me by a Deathclaw

In other news, I'm super-excited to build another Fallout HA here with the re-release of all the Dystopian items with the black friday sale!

My boyfriend was eagerly awaiting this game, seeing as he loves the Fallout series, and managed to snag one of the Pip Boy editions. He had intended to cancel it because it didn't seem practical (and even more so because I don't think his phone works in it anyway) but now it is sitting on display on his shelf designated for collector's editons. lol. He has yet to open it and probably never will. He pre-ordered that copy but also bought it digitally so that I could play it as well. I played Fallout 3 for literally 30 minutes and didn't like it. However, I'm getting into this one a lot. I'm the "Dora the Explorer" type. I must look at everything, everywhere. I am level 12 at the moment and got almost all of that exp from building my house and exploring a few things outside of the main settlement. Yeah, I'm that bad. XD I use up all of my steel building components then have to go back out and stock up on random junk in hopes of scrapping enough stuff to get some more. My house has to be epic! Epic I tell you! Muahahaha! =P

I did preorder it and I play it a lot at the moment (If I am not distracted by Ark). I like the game and it feels pretty much like NV and Fallout 3 ^^. I loved Fallout 3 and I know the "I must explore everything" dilema XD.

Building houses takes me ages.. I am a perfectionist and so the house needs to be perfect as well ^^.

I'm about 30 hours in and 50% done with achievements and I LOVE it. Game of the year in my book. The only complaint I have is about settlements. I like the idea of them, but I hate how "yeah sure, we'll join the Minutemen!" is actually code for "PROVIDE US WITH FOOD AND WATER OR ELSE WE COMPLAIN". Like dang, I can only carry so much junk...

Hey all. I wanted to pop in and get a little feedback with this game. I'm not a gamer, but my husband is. He's currently in love with Skyrim, and I've considered getting him Fallout 4. However, one thing about us, is we're not keen on a lot of blood and language. I have done a little research on it, since it's rather still a new game and all- but figuring if a no blood/less gore mod can be added to the game and a language filter (if at all possible) is available, would the game still be fun to play? My hubs adds a mods to Skyrim, one of which is a no blood/gore, and he still really enjoys the game. He can still get the fun out of the game w/out all the gore and blood. I get what the setting is and all- but neither of us think it's fully necessary to have it there- even if many say "Well, it's the world, it's just like that" or "If you don't like it, don't play it". While yes, he could just not play it, there's really not any "tame" alternate options. All really good games are like Fallout. He may as well stop playing games, but... I don't see that ever happening. lol.

But, just wondering your opinions as gamers and having played the game and all if I should still get it for him for Christmas. I don't want to spend the money if he's not going to want it after all. xD

Thanks in advance!

Death scenes can be quite gruesome - especially if you die to an explosion. I'm not sure what mods are available for the game yet, but I would wait until there's a clean mod. I'm not sure you would be so lucky with a language mod, though. There's a lot of dialogue in the game and it shows up fairly frequently.

Perhaps, if he enjoys Skyrim so much, you could look into getting him the previous Elder Scrolls games like Oblivion. While it's an older game, it's still an open world with the same history and mythology as Skyrim. I don't recall it being as gory as Skyrim, either. Plus, there are a bunch of mods out there to improve the graphics if that's something that would be an issue.

Oh, he has those, or has played them in the past at least. I can't remember if he still owns Oblivion, I think he does. He's a PC gamer, so it's sad that there really aren't many PC games to choose from anymore it seems. Thanks for the info! I've looked a little and seen there's a few mods, but probably not many since it is still a fairly new game and all.

Ughhh I hate the dumb settlement quests. I do them for the easy EXP and caps and then I ignore them hee. And I went for a high Intel/high Agility build because yay science and yay VATS cos I'm so bad without it BUT now I have to invest two points in Charisma because I need Local Leader to share workbench inventory and I'm so bitter about it. I fail basically every speech check though so maybe it'll work out in the long run. And I'm about level 37 and have all the basics covered, locks and hacking and crafting perks etc, so can waste my perks on fun stuff now tbh. But Local Leader isn't fun. 8) It just annoys me thinking about something that should be base level.

Who did everyone side with? I'm at the point where I need to think about choosing. Probably gonna go Railroad.

Well, um, you see...I haven't done the main quest like, at all. 8) I think I'm level 35? And all I've done is

SPOILER (click to toggle) use the memory machine thingy in Goodneighbor to get inside Kellogg's brain. I need to go to the glowing sea but lol, fuck that!

We don't need no radiation. 8) That's the one thing I don't like about this game: how radiation actually affects you. In 3 and New Vegas it was like "lol +200 rads?! Nbd, gonna keep picking this lock!" and in this one it's like NOOOO. In terms of factions, I like the railroad most so far. Brotherhood is meh as always for me, and I tend to forget about the minutemen.
