I don't really like the Tumblr user interface or how there is no way to directly comment on someone's post. What other blog sites exist these days that people actually use? LiveJournal just feels desolate...

Thanks for any suggestions!

I'm using WordPress. - but you should store your pictures elsewhere and have them linked into your blogs :/ if you choose to pay, you can even get unlimited storage. I'm hosting 2 blogs there o.o so you can see i really like the platform. https://theownertravelsto.wordpress.com/ https://cookingmyexperience.wordpress.com/ You can also download a wordpress app/thingie that you can use to host your site elsewhere.. [not sure how this works, but it's not entirely free] you'll have the back-end looking just like you would be on WP, but you wouldn't be! [i know it sounds complicated]. You can install themes on your blog as well, there are many free ones [like the ones i use].. and you can even personalize them a little bit.

There is also Weebly. this is more like a 'drag and drop' kind of blog. so when you create your blog entry you will see exactly what it will look like. [WP doesn't have this option, instead you can preview the post on WP]. I used weebly a little bit last year, i think i still have the blog there [i simply copied a few entries of the cooking blog over there]. I can't really help with more info here, because i didn't spend much time over there. [i should go back there, lol]

It depends on what kind of blog you want to run.. :/ and i hope these help. I think WP is far more popular than weebly. i also saw people still using blogger [but i know basically nothing about this platform. i think it's powered by google]

thank you for all the helpful information. I had been using Tumblr since I made this post but I hate it so much that I might look into WordPress. I really like how your blogs look, especially the cooking blog. (I hate cooking but I enjoy baking.:))

I'm happy i could help :) Thank you for the compliments :) I also prefer baking or making sweets to actual cooking, hahaha

I like tumblr, but i see it fit more for sharing nice pictures, quotes and inspiration - simply because you can;t really comment on the post without re-blogging.

I forgt to mention, that wordpress allows you to create several blogs using the same account [email - much like on tumblr]. and if you don't want to let people know you own both, you don't have to say it. however, the author of the posts will be the same... [that's the only give-away]

if you're interested in guest-posting, let me know. i accept such posts, even if i never did it. guests posts are useful if you want to make your blog more popular ;) [send me a smail if you're interested]

Blogger is another potential option for ya! It's a little less streamlined than Wordpress (in my opinion), but good if you're looking for something super simple and journal-y.

If you're looking for a social blogging site (a la Tumblr), unfortunately I can't really think of any off the top of my head, but yeah.

I definitely second the Wordpress option suggested!
