Greetings and salutations Subeta! HAPPY MOROSTIDE! With the arrival of Morostide comes the end of October so it's time to kick off the final week of my annual Weekly October Giveaway at SubetaLodge!!
Thanks to some amazing friends (who threatened to dismember me piece by piece if I mention any names) helping me gather invites I have got a nice stash of prizes ready and raring to go for this year's giveaway - all you need to do is be a member of SubetaLodge so come on y'all! Who you are, what you look like, where you come from, how much money you have, if you're single, have a family - doesn't matter. Cancer couldn't care less. There are no boundaries this beast will not cross, no social circles it will not invade. Cancer knows no mercy, forever changing the lives of the people it inflicts itself upon as well as those around them without prejudice or restraint. Just the possibility of being diagnosed with one of its many faces strikes fear into the hearts and minds of any and every person on the planet. And we have yet to find a cure.
Like pretty much everybody out there, over the years this beast has invaded my world also. I've lost loved ones to it. I've stood by, unable to do any thing but watch while my friends fight with all their might for a chance at the joy of remission, side effects be damned. Humbled by their strength and determination I've silently wondered.. would I have the moxie to do the same? I'm tough but knowing what they've had to go through, I'm not so sure.
This isn't about pixels or prizes. This is about people. People who have inspired us to live every day like it's your last. People we love, people we've lost, people who are still fighting the fight to make it through another day. People I met right here. These people aren't just names on a website, they're real flesh and blood, and even if I will never meet them in person I've come to love them as family. They are the inspiration behind this. They are the real heroes and they are the ones who lit a fire in my heart to do something that would honor each and every one of them, something that would draw attention to the cause, raise awareness about the disease. I knew what I wanted to do. Getting people thinking about it, talking about it.. that's how you keep the drive alive. I just didn't know how to pull it off. Along came an opportunity to be an item admin for SubetaLodge and voila! The opportunity to host an annual October Giveaway was mine.
It would have something for everyone - Battlers, HA gurus, Collectors, Newbies, Lifers - Subeta et al. There would be books, Subeautique wearables, weapons, cuddly sidekicks and since I honestly believe that we can defeat this beast if we stick together and fight the MC stickers were added to the mix. And of course, pink hugga bears - they were my first pick back then because when I started this there were no pink ribbons. Plus they're bears. One can never have too many bears.
And since you're reading this, its working! I can not thank you enough for joining my plight to raise awareness in the continuing fight to find a cure. By keeping the drive alive the need to eradicate this beast from all of our lives continues to burn brightly. A cure must be found. A cure will be found. The sooner the better. you are a very special woman. As a breast cancer survivor, it makes me feel so proud to see other women exhibit such true compassion for such an evil disease.
I volunteer with seniors living alone. I find it extremely rewarding making sure that they get all of their annual testings and I stay with them through any procedures they may have to endure. The rewards can't be measured when you see the relief on their faces, that they don't have to handle anything but getting well.

As of this post, my 2015 giveaway will have come full circle. Hard to believe 5 weeks have gone by so quickly isn't it? Maybe it's because we're having unseasonably warm weather. Maybe it's because this mean's so much to me it's hard to see it end.. in the immortal words of that old tootsie-pop commercial, the world may never know. BUT! I do know something you don't know y'all, lol, at least not yet.
