Since the times don't really mesh up for egging or TPing someone's houses, it can be hard to know when you can go for it - in my experience, I almost always have to wait longer to egg or TP someone than to trick-or-treat. And with achievements attached to them (forgive me, I wasn't sure whether this should go into the 'achievements' section or not, but after looking at that section I decided not), I thought it would be really handy to have it?
autorefreshers don't need alerts, use one of those
I didn't realize egging/TPing didn't already have alerts! That should definitely be added.
In the meantime you can look up timer add-ons for your browser, I use the timerfox add-on for firefox to keep track of event alerts. (most of the time my pumpkin patch alert doesn't seem to work).
I feel like using an auto-refresher would be cheating? It certainly wouldn't be honest, anyways. Even if there aren't any rules against it, I would still be uncomfortable using one. I want to earn things the way they're supposed to be gotten, I don't want to have a program do it for me.
hmm, do you know if there's anything like that for Chrome? I don't usually use add-ons, so I'm not sure how I would go about finding one.
No, they have confirmed that there's no real way to verify if people are using them so it's not against the rules. it's why there are so many people on during holidays like this. people are afk but autorefreshing. I used to feel the same way but it's really the only way to get some of these achievements and best way to maximize profits during holidays.
hm.. I see. So they can't just see that someone happens to be refreshing every half hour, even if they're normally on maybe one or two hours maximum while a holiday isn't going on? o_O
Also, someone just sent me a gift anonymously that had ten of my wishlist items in it... I have no idea who you are, but thank you so much for it. Honestly, thank you. It was such a surprise to see, let alone once I opened it!
apparently they can't verify anything definitively enough to make sure someone is or is not using an autorefresher so they can't make a rule or else some people may be unfairly punished. or something like that. really why would they spend their time and resources looking at who logs on when and how often they refresh when it really doesn't matter too much? if they didn't want this to be possible they would make the event different I feel.
[edit] either way, I do support an alert just because it probably should have one. though this can be done how I said above much easier. =P
Is what I found regarding auto refreshers, the OP was from like 2010 but everything else I read was pretty much the same idea. An alert would really be helpful, and I'm surprised there isn't actually one yet.
I'm all for an alert for egging/TPing - I was just thinking about this the other day :)
This would be super nice. In the meantime, I just bookmarked the direct link for egging (and have since moved onto TPing) right next to a bookmark that I use very often, so I just open the link whenever I open the one I use often or when I think of it, etc. I had less than 50 on each achievement and I already finished egging for this year just doing that
