[sub] I hate this question so much. Yes. I am a smoker. No. I do not smoke tobacco. Then what do you smoke? M E D I C A L M A R I J U A N A

If you don't smoke or are not supportive of medical marijuana, I'd suggest just ignoring this thread.

There is a lot of controversy over medical marijuana, but that's not what I'm here to discuss. Mostly, if anyone is comfortable enough with sharing: Do you smoke marijuana? What for? (Medical conditions? Insomnia? Anxiety? Etc?) Legal for medical and/or recreational use where you live? If you do smoke, what do you smoke and what do you smoke with? If you can't smoke, do you use edibles or other methods? What do you feel it has helped you with the most?

I had a card for a year gotten for anxiety and insomnia. Medical marijuana was a great alternative to ambien for sleep. I smoked when I was able, but greatly preferred these medicated lollipops. They were basically the size and flavors of gourmet lollipops, and the flavor covered the taste perfectly, very easy to get through at a good pace for it to take effect, too.

These were 100mg each, and I would generally use about half of one ~1 hour before bedtime, which would help me get through the pre-bedtime anxiety I have, and fall asleep while the effect faded out.

I don't smoke and I've never tried it. I actually qualify for a card though because I suffer from anxiety and depression. I'm not sure if it's legal or not in Michigan, but it doesn't really concern me. I know there's a 'hash bash' every year in Ann Arbor, which is near the town where I live. I don't really care if others smoke as long as they don't do it around me and don't smell of it when they're around me. That's not because I'm a bitch, lol, it's because I have really bad allergies that are made a lot worse when I'm around any kind of smoke, tobacco or otherwise. I'm sensitive to scents as well. I've heard it really helps with certain medical conditions though and I'm all for it for people who need it for that. I only have a problem with the people who smoke it to be 'cool' and spend 24 hours a day smoking and playing video games and doing jack shit with their lives.

Nobody can argue with the fact that medical marijuana saves lives and treats multiple conditions and diseases, with less side effects then the pharmaceutical drugs. SMOKING on the other hand is the unhealthy option. It's like everyone forgets the real problem, yada, yada, yada... I could go into this for days. Personally I use marijuana as a pass time, similar to how people use alcohol. Essentially, they are the same. I also use it for a muscle condition that's genetic. Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) is super weird and if you can remember having growing pains that is the closest description I have to it. Whenever I get settled into a spot or to sleep, my joints and muscles cramp up. I have to kick and shake and move to stop the uncomfortable feeling. SOOOO ANNOYING. I tried prescription pills. I have an addictive personality, so I was honest with my doctor and found the most natural option. This medicine required me to take it 4 hours before I sleep, but two hours before it was like I was fighting to keep my brain functioning. The next morning it was so hard for me to get started and I felt like a zombie until the night. By that time it was time to take the meds again. The most natural way I have found is hot or long yoga sessions. If I have the time at night I would rather do that then toke a little. But I work full time (at a head shop of course) and sometimes have long 12 hour days. It's so much easier to smoke a joint in bed then set up a intense stretching session. ;] Everyone deserves a right to their own opinion! This is just me explaining myself :) MUCH LOVE

I don't smoke, but I don't mind if others do. I feel like it actually helps a lot of people out with a ton of medical issues. It is definitely an issue if people overuse anything.....but so many people smoke without any bad side effects so go for it! No need to explain yourself to people who just don't understand why someone would smoke. I live in Canada, so soon enough, it will be practically legal. I've heard from friends that using a vaporizer or oil form actually work more effectively for them. Plus, you wouldn't have to inhale smoke those ways.

The smell is definitely a downside. I am going to have wax melters all over hell.

I was on ambien at some point, for the sake of sleeping, but it didn't do me any good anyways. They do have tons of medicated lolli-pops now. Like, holy shit. The edibles that I see are insane.

Honestly, I wish there were some way to just forego the smell. Unfortunately, even untouched stuff makes everything smell of it. That's part of why I am dying to buy more wax melters, wax melts, or candles. d: I understand being sensitive to smells. D: There are some things that just make my nose burn. lol Also don't necessarily care for those people. Sadly, too many people abuse what is available.

RLS sounds a lot like what I have. Who knows though, I have a bunch of health issues we are trying to figure out right now. The medical system is difficult. Not wanting to take prescription pills make sense, for what ever reason, really. Yoga is amazing. I really miss taking my yoga class, but worry that with what ever happened to my back, I won't be able to do it anymore. :c

I have no idea what the laws are like in Canada. o: The concentrates, oils and waxes, are definitely more effective. There are vape pens with cartridges you can buy, even. It's pretty nice. Though vaping is somewhat easier, it can still be harsh and you're still not inhaling good things for you. d;

Aw friend, I understand you with the health issues. :/ I'm sorry to hear about your back. I know it doesn't mean much coming across from a computer screen but I am sending good vibes your way. Even if you are some what or completely immobile there are still some yoga exercises that help! If you would like I can send you some links! Bruce Lee actually put together a whole 7 min yoga work out that you do laying in your bed! It's pretty awesome. :]

I have glaucoma. Medical marijuana would help, if i lived in a state I could get it. But no I have to live in Wisconsin, land of some of the WORST laws out there in the states. Ugh.

I'd prefer edibles, like hash butter, because I have asthma, and have found I need a very very small amount of hash butter to control my glaucoma. No, not here, when I'm in a state I can, say, Colorado. I don't do anything w/ it here, ever. Too big a risk. But. What the marijuana does for me is it keeps the pressure in my eyes at a more stable level AND takes away the literally constant "rainbow" halo I see around every fucking light source ever. You can well imagine what my nights are like. Rainbows everywhere. But, with some hash butter in my system, they are completely eliminated for up to two weeks after last use, they gradually return after the first week until it's just a mess at two. It also lets my corneas "uncloud" a bit earlier than usual. Some days, I can't really see for most of the day, reading is right out, there's a film or fog over everything. Some days it clears in three hours and I'm lucky. Some days, if I'm very very fortunate, an hour. But that's not quite as consistent as the noticeable and very obvious results with the halos and tested pressures from my eye doc.

I mean ya I like smoking it and I like water bongs the best for recreational use, but, asthma, so... I'm a simple heart, but since I can't here, it's just not a thing I try to obtain. I use when I can and enjoy the benefits when I can and until I move or Wisconsin stop being a total fucking backwards state, this is the lot I'm in. No, pot will not reverse my sight, nothing will do that, but if I can slow it's progression, heck ya.

I live somewhere that hasn't yet legalized marijuana and will most likely be one of the last few states to do so. That said, I do still smoke weed to keep my Crohn's Disease in remission (also it helps with flare up symptoms such as every sort of bowel issue imaginable, pain, trouble sleeping and keeping up an appetite).

Since it's not legal where I am and since I'm so far away from legal states, what I smoke isn't as high quality as I would like (it's a step above skunk weed). I smoke from either my water bong or my glass pipe, but I definitely get higher from smoking from my bong. Unfortunately I have never tried an edible before in my entire life. D:

- Except I have zero desire to move to those states at all. If I can, I'm going to reloacte to Oregon in a few years, though. Un the meantime, I just use when I can, about once a year, but it's more than I have had before so it's fine.

I hope you're able to relocate to Oregon or such. Washington and California are also places it is legalized. ♥ Oregon is nice though. o:

omg. Do you like chocolate, caramel, and coconut? d: Water bong is definitely the best. I can't even do little glass pipes anymore. d: The vape pens and concentrates are pretty nice too. ♥ Have you ever thought about moving?

California is going bankrupt and drying out, and the north is too rich because of weed money. Washington is too wet and humid for my tastes. I'm specifically looking at southwestern Oregon. I've been looking into this for a few years now, but won't be able to know if I can move for another year and a half.

I love all those flavors you mentioned. It's not the food that cannabis goes in that has kept me from trying it, it's simple an accessibility thing. Also I'm a little nervous because from what I understand it can effect you much differently than inhaling. (Side note: I've never vaped, is this something I should consider doing?)

My husband and I have definitely talked about moving west (but not just for medical/legal marijuana but for the progressive attitudes and NATURAL BEAUTY) but unfortunately it's not feasible for us to up and move when we have a house and steady work here. However if we ever won the lottery or had a windfall of money we would definitely consider moving to Washington or Oregon.
