I feel like a complete fool.. but I really would like to see if I can do my own CWs. I got Photoshop CS6 and a Huion tablet. I open up photoshop and feel completely lost. I don't know what to do. I see people talk about red lines and I don't understand how the new layers work so you can change one to help the other. I have been trying to find help by google but don't know what exactly I need to be looking for.. since everything you can do is different. If someone is willing to help me.. that would make me so happy. Can't promise things will make sense to me and apologize in advance. Please help. :/

PS - If this in the wrong spot, I am so sorry. I couldn't find anywhere more fitting.

you might want to check this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhVnVGWtCU4 and also look for tutorials on deviantart/other art sites/youtube with the words "tutorial photoshop drawing"

try to do a lot of research because if you have zero knowledge about the program it is highly unlikely you can easily start drawing overnight. it's something that takes time, practice, patience and above all, determination

good luck !!

Figuring out a new art program is really daunting, and it takes time! But I agree with , try looking up general drawing tutorials for beginners/basics on youtube, and those will help you with the very basic functions for photoshop and SAI. Generally, you start with a white background on both, and then you add layers on top (which are transparent to begin with), to draw on top. Layers help you draw multiple pieces of something, which you can change without affecting the other layers. With CWs, most people will have a layer for their outlines (lineart), with one or more color layers underneath the lineart.

Redlines will be something you can ask for after you've started drawing. It's basically a way for another artist to take art that you need help with, and open it up in photoshop and draw corrections on it. It's just a visual way to help someone correct/improve their art.

But yeah, I would really suggest just spending a while learning to draw in general using the program(s) you want to work with, and learning how it works! When you feel more comfortable, you can download the blank HA bases from Subeta to start trying to make CWs!
