You'll get the hang of things in no time, it's a little daunting at first (I only recently came back to this account and wow it's changed a lot!) and can get a little confusing but you'll pick it up in your own time. Survival horror is my favourite genre of games as well, my favourite game of all time is actually Silent Hill 2 (closely followed by The Last of Us, though I'm not sure if that counts as "survival horror"). I never really got into Resident Evil though - I'm more of a monster person than a zombie person, haha!
