Okay so admittedly, I was a bit dumb and rushed into making an art shop and now it's sinking fast because I'm getting no buyers. I'm afraid that it's because I've priced my art too unfairly, and now I'm hoping I can get some guidance on the issue.

What would you pay for something like this?

Examples Headshots x x x

Fullbody/Waistups x x x

Painted Portraits x x x

I'm originally charging 5mil sP/$7 for a bust, 10mil/$10 for a fullbody/waistup and 20mil/$25 for the painted portraits. Am I being too unreasonable??

I'm not sure about the prices but your dollar to sP conversion is a bit off (though you have the $ to csc right): $1=100csc=5mill (or what 100 csc gift cards are currently selling for atm) so $7 should be 35mill rather than 5mill. Although you are allowed to sell it for different ratios of course XD

Yup! I know it's off. I'm selling it at a different ratio since me selling stuff at it's intended price wasn't getting any buyers.

Ah okay! XD Sorry, I must have just misunderstood because in your top post you said you 'originally' priced it as that XD

Perhaps you could try advertising more? I see that you've already done some freebies, but this guide also suggests posting around a bunch to get some extra attention (since you've got a link to your shop in your signature, and you could also add a small forum image/signature pic)! One of the other guides specifically on art pricing has some good tips near the end on getting more customers too!

If you don't have a ping group yet it might be worthwhile making one too! You can use them to alert people that there are slots open as well as ping them to any art threads you make or if you're offering special discounts, etc!

And if you don't end up finding a suitable price you could try an art auction or a name your own price store to figure out what people are willing to pay! C:

I think your pricing is perfectly fine! Unfortunately, part of the problem is that a lot of the online community can be unwilling to pay artists what their art is worth. I never got too much interest in my art either but I think a lot of what Lag suggested can help. I use my own art for my forum image, and linked my shop in my signature when it was open. I also posted on threads where people were seeking to buy-- you might have to spend some time actively selling your art till you build up a user base. But don't undercut yourself! Your art is worth time and money and it's unfair to everyone if you sell yourself short. The right people will come along eventually. c: Your portraits are lovely, btw. I might look into getting one myself when I get more sp! c:

I wanted to thank you both for your helpful comments and suggestions. :> I'm glad I'm taking a step in the right direction wrt my freebie thread; I thought it'd get "my name out there" so to speak. Clopin, I couldn't agree with you more. Artists are often victim to underpricing their own work, or even being bullied into lowering prices. I am obviously no victim to this!!

Again, thank you!! I'm going to go through all of your guys' suggestions and just try and be a bit more patient~

Good luck! It does take awhile to build up some fans because as Clopin says it takes a lot of actively getting your work seen, but it is worth it! C:

Looks pretty reasonable to me :D I also started an art shop and it's working pretty well so far, but that might be because when I first started I wasn't exactly sure how to price my art either, and I started at a price waaay lower than yours. Now that I think about it, I'm starting to think I've underpriced my art. By a lot. Besides advertising your art, being at the top of the forum page is always great. Not everyone's bothered to scroll through dozens of threads to find something suitable. Good luck! I really like your art style, actually. I might get a bust shot if I save up enough sP C:

Dude, underpricing your own art is an epidemic among artists... we're so quick to assume that when someone doesn't commission us in the first day of opening shop that we're pricing too much. Patience is the key to a lot, unfortunately.

Good luck~
