Anyone else obsessing over Pokemon Shuffle and super excited for Pokemon Go next year?

For those who don't know. Pokemon Shuffle is 3DS game and also Nintendo's first phone app. Its play style is similar to Bejeweled except you can swap any piece with any other piece on the board. It's pretty great! I'm stuck on level 120 so if anyone has any hints I'd love to hear them!

Pokemon GO! Is a location based app that will be released sometime next year where you have to travel somewhere to catch Pokemon. You'll also be able to carry a team and battle other players!! So basically Pokemon in the real world. There is an awesome trailer on YouTube so please go check it out. If anyone remembers the April Fools joke that Google made a year or two back on Google Maps where you have to find Pokemon and capture them, I'm pretty sure that was their "secret" test run. WHICH IS REALLY RAD I'M SUPER EXCITED!

Anyone love the game(s)? Excited? Concerned? I know my battery life is going to be halved by all the Pokemon I'm playing haha.

Pokemon Shuffle is a lot of fun, I have it on my tablet. But I'm extremely excited for Pokemon Go! The trailer was great, and I can't wait to see game play, and learn more details!

The concept of PKMN Go is interesting and that trailer captured perfectly those fantasies some of us had as a child. Honestly, I'm more excited for this than PKMN Z. It is likely to keep me entertained longer if micro-transactions are kept at a minimum. I want to purchase my necessities with in-game currency.

Oh totally! The Pokemon Go Trailer looks amaZING but I'm hoping the actual gameplay can live up to the hype. Pokemon Shuffle doesn't quite have that Nintendo feel to me and I don't know why (but I'm giving them time because this is their first ever phone app) so I'm really hoping they get it right with Pokemon Go.

I'm super curious if they'll make it a region thing. E.g. Texas will be desert pokemon, areas with forests will just be infinitely bug pokemon with the occasional Pikachu? For their mass events, how many places will they include because it's really not fair to people who can't travel, to go to Times Square to capture Mewtwo lol. Are they going to include the Wonder Trade or just trading in general? Will walking level your Pokemon like it did in SoulSiver and HeartGold? Will my battery survive my journey to become a Pokemon master?

Haha, I'm full of questions as well.

I'm thinking that a lot of people do think it will be a region thing, different Pokemon different places, which sounds a bit frustrating when you consider you'll have to trade for new Pokemon. (I live in the mountains, will I have to trade my friend who is much closer to the beach for water Pokemon?)

They already have location giveaways so I think they probably will do something like that, maybe charge a fee if you want to catch Mewtwo but can't fly out to New York. (Pay $ and Mewtwo will show up at your home!)

There are some people speculating whether the PKMN you find are location-based or randomize. I hope its the latter so we in the U.S. don't have to travel out of state just to get a specific critter.

As for the handling of legendary PKMN it is likelyto be a bi-monthly event held at iconic locations with a set time limit. The full details would be announced on their website so people have time to prepare. I hope on Independence Day, if you are at the Gettysburg Battlefield, you have a chance at catching Reshiram and/or Zekrom.

Right? It'll be really tiring to continually have to find people to trade with (but that kind of reminds me of the NPCs always looking to trade so I guess in the end I wouldn't mind it too much). It'll be kind of funny though because at the beginning everyone is going to be totally a type trainer since that'll be all they can get their hands on. But if they're constantly keeping an eye on location of where we are, that'll drain battery so fast I won't even have time to recharge haha.

Location giveaways are going to be so great because it'll be a mass gathering of Pokemon nerds :D I'm looking forward to it!! And alksjd ahahahahaha Mewtwo the hooker making house calls omg. That would be SO funny!!

I'm really hoping for randomized too! I'd prefer not to have to haunt forums and etc to see if someone is willing to trade lol. But also it would be kind of weird if all the trainers from a certain area have all the same Pokemon in real life.

Legendaries will probably be all either location events or gifts. I think it actually opens a really cool option for businesses to participate actually. Like for example, if you go to Target, you can get a Pokemon they have bought exclusively for their store or something. It would definitely be really cool if they thought really hard for the different locations :D Pokemon getting deEP!!

That might dissuade people from downloading the game. I hope it is something different and promotes socializing as seen in the trailer. Maybe giveaways at conventions since they are social gatherings?

Sorry. I edited my previous post before you got a chance to read the updated text.

That's true. The social aspect is something that Pokemon has always been forceful with (or just great at getting peoples money with two versions of the game). I hope they include wondertrade as well (one of my favorite features of the recent games haha). At conventions and other social things would be great!! I think there is a lot of opportunity for little groups of people to form to trade and battle pokemon wherever they are so I'll be keeping an eye out for clubs!

How indepth do you think the battling will be? It kind of looked like you could catch pokemon just by random encounter and luck with pokeballs. From the video it didn't seem like any battling was happening (especially with the watch that they'll release I don't know how that'll work at all). Will we have our 4 move set? I'm hoping that they'll make the shiny rate a little less painful or I will end up doing a lot of walking lol.

If TPC/GF reach out to social media too then this could be a huge success!

It is too early to be sure, but I have notice that the battles were between other players and legendary PKMN. PKMN Go might be a smartphone equivalent of the PKMN Walker.

xD Pokemon Shuffle is like Bejeweled's upgraded, cute-ified cousin. I don't know how far along I am but I absolutely love it. <3

I play Pokemon Shuffle on my iPad, it's adorable! :P I don't pay for in-game stuff with real money though, but I just play it occasionally - on the bus, while I eat my breakfast in the morning, on my lunch break, etc.

I'm SUPER hyped for Pokemon Go, but what worries me is that the Pokemon will be country/region-specific. I hope they wouldn't do that, maybe they've just made it randomly-generated in your area or something. So you potentially can find a large portion of the Pokemon.

Do you guys think that when you open the app, it'll start with Professor Oak and he'll let us choose a starter? I might actually tear up it'll be so beautiful!!!!!

Ugh I want pokemon clubs to happen alreadyyyy. To be honest I'm already ready to cosplay to Pokemon events!! (As Trainer Red!).

Oh totally. To be honest, because it's so similar I tend to miss out on moves because I often forget that you can move a piece with any other piece on the board @

Me either :D I'm not gonna pay for anything until Pokemon Go and I'll only do that just to show my support for a great app.

It would be so obnoxious if you could only see Gen X&Y Pokemon in France (where the map is based). I sure hope that they expand it so everyone can get their favorites easily.

I have not even heard of Pokemon Shuffle! Might be time to download that. xD

I'm so excited for Pokemon Go, I downloaded Ingress, the other game that Niantic has made. If it's anything similar, I think it's going to be tons of fun. My buddy and I are already pre-planning Pokemon Go excursions.

Edit: For what it's worth, PG's likely going to be a data as well as a battery hog. Ingress uses GPS pings pretty much constantly, and that racks up data fast.

Man, I'm excited about pkmn go but with the new release of Shuffle on Mobile I'm actually... Kind of really concerned about microtransactions? Because WOW. Wow did they bump the prices up a ton for mobile, not to mention made it even harder to catch things and get coins in the first place! It's actually so irritating that I've... pretty much abandoned my mobile file, even though I actually have a Lucarioite and Charizardite on it orz I'm stuck on 165 (the MILOTIC) and wooooow. Wow it is rough and requires so many coins to clear 8')

BUT if Pokemon GO doesn't charge you 3500 coins for a great ball, I'll be so excited. Even if I'll probably just get like. Tauros and Ponytas because of where I live ahaha.

Pokemon has really come a long way from the gameboy advanced games :) it's well worth trying out Pokemon X&Y (for the 3DS) if you're looking to get reinvolved with it. Mainly because it's the first full 3D and it also brings wonder trades and character customization into the picture which is fabulous~

Pokemon Shuffle is a glorified version of Bejeweled but a little more interesting. With the Pokemon aspect included it sure is fun to play :) Oh definitely. I'm actually kind of nervous about my data plan and battery life. I have a feeling I'm not going to like the results haha. I played Ingress for some time but I ended up deleting the app because it was causing so much battery drainage. :( I hope Pokemon Go is a little better! (chances are it's not hahaha)

Very true! I don't actually use any powerups (I save up for the greatballs) but yeah, a lot of the levels are incredibly difficult later on. I remember Mega Gengar took me days hahaha. Milotic is actually very easy with a bit of luck but you have to optimize your team and then add Feebas. Nintendo already is making so much money off of me from my Animal Crossing addiction :( I hope they don't have exorbitant prices for Pokemon Go otherwise I will cry and probably not end up playing :/

Yeah! I try not to use powerups either but... some of the later levels cracked me ahahaha. I admit, Mega Gengar was one of them. After a few days of intermittent weeping/cursing/etc I just. Bought a couple power ups.

And yeahhh. I've. Tried Milotic. A lot. Including Feebas! But I have no luck and without the damage from my would-be 4th, I just can't get enough damage out between the constant freezes! /weeps

I am hopeful for GO, though. I really am! ... like a ton of people. I'm honestly most curious about how they're going to place the pokemon and if there are a lot of regions with only certain types, then... I can just imagine what conventions and airports would look like! Crowds of people trading for pokemon from different areas! Man. It'd be so cool. Here's hoping, though! (and I hope Animal Crossing is treating you alright, if you got the Home Designer one that just came out x) )

It still sounds fantastic! I'm not as in love with candy crush as everyone else in the world, but I will play Farm Heroes forever. So add Pokemon to Farm Heroes? I should be downloading it right the heck now. xD What kind of microtransactions does Pokemon Shuffle involve? I'm actually a little concerned about that as well, if only because I'd hate to have Pokemon Go run on microtransactions. :c

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens with the data plans. I make a point to only turn on my data when I'm actively Ingressing, and even then I came super close to my limit. I'm also extremely glad I invested in an external battery because omg I get a few hours of play and then I have to stop.

My friend and I were speculating whether they'd use their existing ingress technology to sort of build Pokemon Go. I'm thinking it could look something like the Anomaly events, where "shards" actually move their locations every fifteen minutes, within a few square miles of a bounded geographical area. I can already see a lot of potential with that kind of model, but if they're putting specific pokemon in specific regions, I hope to every deity that they allow in-game trading with others. Because OMG as much as I wish I could visit Antarctica, that probably isn't ever going to happen

(sorry if that doesn't work, I'm a bit (read: very) rusty orz) yeah! I am also hoping that like... if there -are- only specific pokemon in specific regions, that it's at least a decent selection? We'll have to see.

Also! I noticed you asked about shuffle's microtransactions. I'll leave most of that answer up to Autumn since this is their thread etc, but like... Normal Pokeballs don't cost anything in shuffle, but if you miss a capture then you can pay 3500 coins for a great ball for a single boosted catch chance. For perspective, you get 20 coins for a successful clear of a normal level you've cleared before; 100 or 200 coins for clearing a level for the first time... or can buy a jewel ($1) for 4000 coins.

And those are the mobile figures; items are actually much cheaper in the 3ds version (+30 for level clear, 2500 for a great ball)! This uh... looks pretty long in this chat box so I'll cut it off there, but there's one example for you, hope I didn't step on any toes! ;x;
