So if a custom wearable isn't in the CW shop, how exactly do you get a hold of it? I've seen custom wearables i'd love to have but they seem to be old and I have no idea who the owners are or how I would go about getting the items! I know some of them are private/limited and, if they are, does that mean i'm not going to get a hold of them? I would also like to know, if I can't get a hold of them, could I make something similar and submit it?

The easiest (and most common) way is to post on the r200 thread and ping # buysellcw! here's the ping group, you must be in it to ping (be aware that you'll get a lot of pings, as many people ping this group daily though!)

I'd suggest just posting up all the items you are looking and ping that aforementioned group, and then hope that a user has said item and is willing to sell/trade it n_n (you can add a note saying that you don't know what it public/private, and to notify you about any unobtainable items!)

About contacting the artist -- In many cases, the artist isn't actually the releaser. From my experience, very few releasers keep extra copies of items they've sold in the past, so if it's not in their cw shop or if it isn't in a trade lot, chances are they don't own any spare at all!

(Keep in mind as well that many items that are private have 'public copies auctioned', so that it may still be findable somewhere, simply at a higher cost)

As for 'could I make something similar and submit it', I'd be cautious about it. People are often iffy about copycats and ripoff versions, especially when it's an obvious copy to replace an item that can't be obtained. I mean, some people do it anyway, but it usually doesn't please everyone.
