I'm just curious but how do you usually pick which pet of yours gets zapped? I've been debating to alternate between two pets or just stay with a specific pet until I get something that'll inspire some ideas that befits the pet's name. c:

I usually have a designated Zapper pet! Either a pet I haven't picked a species for, or a ward that I rehome once they turn into something cool.

I mainly zap fan pets, so I stick with one pet until I get the specific experiment I'm going for. For awhile, I was between zapper pets so I just zapped Teschi. She needs a ridiculous amount of TC slots so I zapped her before I turned her glade so I could save a little sP on those + have something to do. I'm currently zapping Tony the Talking Clock

When I zap a pet I normally have a designated pet that I stay with and zap. I zap for treasure spaces, or until I get something I like. There are a few times where the pet just keeps turning into the same species or color combination or is simply something I can't stand. In those cases I give it an inexpensive elixir and change to something other than the Experiment (aquarium head) that it gets stuck on.

i usually zap a pet with a character i'm not sure on yet, or one that i'm not sure what color/species i want it to be.

For my pets, i usually have a species set in mind that they are, and them being something else would just be weird. I zapped Osgood for a little while, but decided he needed to be a twilight Lazirus. Kaymaru i adopted as is, though now i think he might be better as a different experiment (his name didn't seem to fit the experiment but i kept it cuz i liked that design for a while, but it's losing its charm). I wanted a so i actually adopted a pet with a nice name and started zapping away.
