I live in the same timezone as Subeta was set up so the clock is what I go by. However I have been noticing that the clock is losing time. Without refreshing my page a span of time it losses seconds which leads to it being off by minutes. It is also not consistent across tabs. I notice this particularly when I load a new page but the shoutbox loads old convo, the time clock is always off when it loads old messages. As of right now the clock is off a minute for me.
each time you refresh or go to a page, your browser grabs the clock from the website (in this case Subeta), After that point, your computer does the time increments, so it gets off over time depending on your browser load/computer.
I've noticed this for a while now. Subeta's time is an hour ahead of me usually, but across tabs and things it will be either less or more than that hour time span. My friend has the same time as Subeta, but I can't say for sure if they've noticed it or not.

I've seen this too, when rsing and refreshing multiple pages at a time.

But how does that explain not refreshing a page and it starts off correct but then ends up off? I tend to stay on the news page with no other tabs open to use the shoutbox. It starts completely lined up to my computer time but about 30 minutes on the same page no refresh, the clock is off by 2-3 minutes usually. Across tabs the most I have seen is a 15 minute gap. One tab is correct the other is behind
thats exactly why it starts off correct then gets more and more incorrect over time. i think im just not wording it well.
It starts correct because it grabs the time from the site when you load the page (which should match some arbitrary clock according to its time zone).
After that point, your browser, increments the seconds itself. A computers "mechanical" clock is not very accurate and thats why the browser clock will go off.
Your computer clock (not browser clock) is actually off very often and needs constant correction, which it gets by syncing with an online clock. It's all done behind the scenes so most wont notice it. Your broswer doesnt until you refresh the page.
that's why over time your browser clock will be more and more incorrect over time. i bet if you dont refresh the page for a year it can easily be up to a day+ off.
idk if you have ever owned an actual watch, quartz or kinetic. it's the same concept. After you initially set the time, the mechanical movement is not 100% accurate so overtime it will be faster or slower, and you have to resync it. Your browser is the same,
sorry for the wall of text
No worries I totally get what you are saying but this is still in reference to the clock that is embedded in the site's layout? It is that clock that is off. My computer clock is correct. When I load subeta on different tabs each tab has a different time on the subeta page. I am just confused why it wouldn't be consistent on each tab. Like one tab matches my time of 1:39 but the other has 1:37.
Like I am just opening different tabs and each one has a slightly different time. Nothing is syncing up.
Yeah, im still talking about subeta time.
If you open the 2 tabs at the same time, it should have correct time right? (within 1-3 seconds)
it's if you leave one tab on for a while, then open a new tab, that the clock is off. (New tab is correct, old tab is off by x minutes)
Yup about right. So I guess now I need to figure out why my computer is being weird then. I thought for some reason the clock might be tied into the new service that the shoutbox is on because it started happening around then. Especially when a new tab loads old sb messages.
