I just got around to watching the movie yesterday, and oh my gosh I loved it. Someone come talk to me about this movie because none of my friends want to hear me anymore!

(Also I made a very quick and dirty attempt at an Illya HA)

I'll be glad to talk with you, after it comes out on Payperview. I don't go to movies these days, but this is one I'm really looking forward to. I want to see how the current Illya stacks up against David McCallum.

I look forward to that then! I never watched the tv show, but as far as I know they changed a couple of little details of Illya's background - mostly just circumstantial things. But ohhh my gosh Armie Hammer is so TALL Illya looks like a brickhouse.

Good Lord, he's 6'5"! David is only 5'7". If I remember correctly, the TV show never touched on Illya being KGB, or much on the Cold War.

He towers over Henry Cavill's Napoleon - he looks short and dainty in comparison! Ah well that makes sense for the time period, obviously there's a lot more freedom to say things about that time period now haha. The soundtrack is also amazing - I'm dying to get my hands on a vinyl of it.

laughs Did you know that both David and Robert Vaughn were under 6' tall? Some people back then thought they weren't "heroic" enough because of their height. Then Illya's popularity took off. He was a real idol back then.

A vinyl? Do they still even make vinyl records?

Oh noo really? Poor things. Although I do remember reading that Ducky was the original Illya and thinking "but he's so SMALL". Was he really? That's awesome I had no idea! What about Solo?

Yeah they do! Most new albums are still printed in vinyl, and re-prints of popular older albums are constantly released. The most recent new vinyl I've brought lately is Uptown Funk actually. I've got a decent collection going.

Robert Vaughn is 5'10". I have to confess, I never liked his Napoleon Solo. He was too...oily? Smarmy? An obvious player?

Really? I admit I don't look, but I've only seen CDs for years.

Ohhh I see, well the new Solo is smarmy too - but he's endearingly smarmy? He's a sweetiepie in the film to be honest.

I mean it might be different where you are (I'm an Aussie) and they're not at the cd stores per say, but the biggest electronics/dvds/cds/games franchise stores have a pretty solid vinyl section. There's obviously a lot more variety online - plus I'm a vintage collector so I don't really know the best spots for new vinyls.

I'm sure Robert's Solo appealed to some women. I was a dyed-in-the-wool Illya fan. He seemed much more real, not into playing stupid games. I think Solo was supposed to be Bond-like.

Ah, that explains it. I'm American.
