This game is a game that can't be played by me.

The game keeps on "helpfully detecting" that I'm using the mouse no the keyboard no the mouse no the keyboard no the mouse the mouse. A spacebar is a shoot, unless it thinks you're a mouse then it's a pagedown....sure instadeath. To get even the scores I've gotten, I've had to quickyank the mouse cord out of it's USB port after I first use it to start the game without bumping the mouse AT ALL (it doesn't seem possible to start the game via keyboard)

Yeah, I'm not gonna risk damaging my port that way.

Please put a toggle in the game before it starts that allows me to bypass this...helpfulness. "I will play via keyboard" or "I will play with mouse". Maybe make it pop up in its own window, so there's no scroll for it to interpret, ever?

can you click on the key/mouse in the bottom right? I wasn't even aware of the mouse controls (I don't ever read directions) once I clicked on the key, it let me use my mouse. I don't get any auto detection.

I'm using Windows 10 and Firefox 40.0

I didn't even see that manual toggle. I wonder why it shifts automatically for me? The manual toggle doesn't stick there's some kinda autodetect going on.

My desktop is also a touchscreen, do you think it's shifting from mobile mode and back?

I don't think having touch screen affects mobile mode at all, usually mobile is detected by the browser version sent in the http requests or whatever. it might be a glitch why it is switching back and forth for you, I am not able to get it to pick up that I am using a mouse until I manually click on it.
