I released one CW, but only two have sold. It's priced at 500 CSC. I was thinking about releasing a background, but if this one has hardly sold, then I'm worried about wasting money....

Advice? By the way, this is the CW I released.

commissions can be hit or miss. sometimes they sell out, other times they flop. in my experience, it can take a few tries before you start understanding what people will and wont buy. most users first cw release actually tends to flop. a safer bet might be to try and win a design auction for now. theres several great artists on here that sell designs from time to time ^__^

Aren't those usually pretty expensive? The auctions I mean.

some are, some aren't. artists will sometimes sell designs for a fixed price. i've seen a design sold for a flat rate of 20 dollars that filled 5 batches

as pointed out, sometimes things sell, sometimes they don't, and it's rather hit-or-miss. I understand the frustration, I've myself drawn some things that I really loved, and that almost no one has ended up wanting as much as me haha

I'd also suggest following design sales, perhaps note down what people seem to be interested in -- and then either buy a design or commission someone who follows the current trend! (Obviously not a copy of something that sold, but say people are into 'anything with glitters', then you could commission a sweater or even a background that themes with glitters!)

In general, long wavy hair tends to be more popular than short hair (and more expensive), woman or unisex hair more popular than male hair, versatile accessories in multiple colors. There's also the more delicate area of 'unique' items, which may or may not go well -- for example a specific type of item that isnt very versatile, or a color that doesn't allow much interpretation.

I'd tend to say that nowadays, people are more open to experimentations than they were 3 years ago. Some of the hair colors ive done would've never made it onsite when I started because everyone sticked to black, blonde, couverture and platinum!

I was wondering if releasing it in batches and making it a limited edition item would help sell it.

Oh right, could I get some feedback on this? This was drawn by the awesome
