Yeah you guessed it, I did the thingy. While first exploring I came across Itallos and of course I clicked the quest thing because who wouldn't. I dare say I did a fair amount of reading on a number of aspects of the site where some people don't even read Newbie's page(where it doesn't state the intricacies beyond just getting a Galactic pet). Now a month later I've decided to own another pet that I would make Galactic and thought that the blessing would be like a 'token' that I could use any time on any pet and therefore completed the quest, which turned my Glacier pet Galactic, and I've had to spend an amount I don't yet have the liberty to carelessly throw out to turn him back to Glacier.

Aaaaaaaand while checking Itallos' page. I accidentally clicked on him. Again. And there is no confirmation for something as dire as an irreversible colour-changing quest. Then I discover there is no way to undo the quest or even select another pet while I'm at it. So basically I cannot make another Galactic pet ever, unless I buy ANOTHER Glacier potion.

This seems like a problem that a site of nearly a decade should not have. Does no one complain about this? The blogs and FAQs all just seem to accept it like oh hey that's just the way it is get over it. I'm a human and I make mistakes ;n;

On a related note, can I negate the quest by gifting my pet to another user and having them gift it back? Do his pet, treasures, book/food scores, etc stay?

i hear you. i made the same mistake some time ago. i saw quest, i accept quest. i didn't even read. and i turned my nightmare charlie into galactic. lucky for me, i have extra nightmare potion lying around. really hoping they have warning saying the quest will turn your pet into galactic at that time.
