Hey guys! I really love the old game Age of Mythology and I am planning to do a live stream of the main campaign. This board will serve for my announcements, but I also created a ping group as well:

Before I start, I need to settle on a streaming website. I have a twitch account that I managed to get the game streaming on to. The one problem is that twitch doesn't allow for you to use the chat box without an account. It isn't to much trouble to set up an account, however, seeing as some of you might not want to bother, I would be interested in any suggestions for other streaming sites that may allow one to do so. If I don't find anything else that works, I'll just use twitch.

Once I've settled that, I'll need some volunteers while I test out a couple of the different servers in California and do other fine-tuning. Then I'll need to set a weekly time to dedicate to playing. I'm thinking an hour or so on Saturday evenings. Let me know what time works best for you. I also need to figure out how to get audio to stream.

About AoM Age of Mythology is a real-time strategy video game from the same studio that made Age of Empires, Ensemble Studios. It was released in 2002. It was released again in the Steam store in 2014. It features four different civilizations with different units, technologies, and other quirks. The three civilizations available in the base game are Greek, Egyptian and Norse, and the Titans expansion pack introduces the overpowered Atlantean civilization. It's okay the Norse are overpowered too.

In order to create units, build buildings, research improvements and advance to the next Age, one has to gather resources with their villagers. The four resources are food, which is gathered in various ways, wood from cutting down trees, gold from mining, and favor, which is gained in different ways depending on your civilization. Villagers can also build buildings, but are very vulnerable to attacks. There are many types of fighting units in the game. Human units are the cheapest and easiest to get. They include infantry, archers, and cavalry. They are good for pitting against other human units over whom they have an advantage. Infantry beats cavalry, cavalry beat arches, and archers beat infantry. Later in a game session you have access to siege units, which are good against buildings, but vulnerable to human units. They are often slow-moving, have a slow rate of attack, and need to be a certain distance from a target to fire. There are also myth units, which are unique to each civilization and depend upon what minor god the player chooses to worship. They have a variety of talents, but they are very good against human units. The counter to myth units are heroes, who have a golden glow around them. There are also naval units, including ships and a hand full of naval myth units.

When you start a game, you are given three choices of major god to worship depending on your civilization. The choice of major god determines what minor gods you can worship when you advance to the next age. Advancing to the next age unlocks new buildings, units and upgrades. When doing so, there is a selection between two gods to worship, each of which gives you different myth units, upgrades, and god powers. Your choice of major god also gives you your starting god power. God powers can do a variety of things, from increase you resource production for a set amount of time, to using powerful natural phenomena to destroy your enemies' buildings and units.

I will be playing through the main game campaign, which consists of scenarios with particular goals and starting conditions. Civilizations and major gods are already chosen for example. It goes through sections of playing as the original 3 civilizations: first Greece, Egypt and the Norse. It has a pretty fun story line with likable characters, in my opinion. Several characters from history and mythology will show up along the way, as well. There is also a campaign included in the Titans expansion in which you play as the Atlantean civilization, but since it is more difficult, I will not being going through it at this point and time.

[edit] 8/5 - Audio seems to be working.

I'm looking for a time that will be good for people from a variety of time zones to watch. Figuring out a good time for multiple people is the tricky part.

Ah. Well I'm pretty much good for anytime, except for Monday morning through afternoon, and Wednesday morning. Obviously I go by EST, or the Subeta time.

Seeing as time has freed up for me again, I'm starting up the idea of streaming this again. After thinking about it, it seems the best time for me is at 8 or 9 at night of Sundays for one hour. Unfortunately this is 11 or 12 pm on Subeta's time. I could also try for between 4 and 8 pm Subeta time (1 and 4pm on the West Coast) on either Saturday or Sunday.

Tell me what works best for you.
