Perhaps consider renaming it to Enchanted Maiko Comb? Just some observations,
The Enchanted Geisha Comb isn't really correctly named, as the outfit, hair etc is that of a Maiko (Apprentice Geisha).
Top to Bottom -
Head/Hair - The hairstyle is Wareshinobu, which is the hairstyle of a junior Maiko. The kanzashi (hair ornaments) are that of a Maiko as well.
Body - The first collar (next to the skin), is red, a Geisha's is white. The obi and hikizuri are quite elaborate, whereas a Geisha's kimono and obi are much simpler. The obi is quite large, a Geisha's obi is tied in a simple box knot.
, are you the person for this? Or is it something that'll get updated when the items are broken up?
Maybe "Apprentice Geisha Comb" would be a better change. The term "maiko" is a bit obscure in terms of item searching imo.

While I had no clue what a Maiko was, I disagree that it's too obscure. It may be obscure to English speakers but it's the correct term for this outfit. I don't see why it can't be changed to actually reflect the culture it's referencing.
That's a fair point. I think "maiko" or "apprentice geisha" would be appropriate interchangeably between the item name and description either way. I made my suggestion because I think it would make the item easier to find, and I think it's a niche term to more than just English speakers.

I understand where you're coming from, but we have some items named in English that are still ridiculously hard to find, haha. Case in point being collection items with super long names. I find it easier to remember one key word like Maiko than to try and remember the collection name for the item below.
Ideally it would be Enchanted Maiko Comb. As said, it should be named appropriately to reflect the culture it's referencing. "Enchanted Apprentice Geisha Comb" is too long, imo, and "Apprentice Geisha Comb" doesn't really reflect it accurately either, as an Apprentice Geisha could really be a minarai or shikomi, two stages which come before the Maiko stage.
I just wanted to say thanks for this thread, because you made me spend like an hour reading Wikipedia articles about Geisha, Geiko, Maiko and their culture, which I love to learn about.
And yes, I agree it should be renamed. Maybe add the word Geisha in the description and Maiko in the item name, so it's named correctly and it isn't very hard to find?
, a great tumblr is geisha-kai.tumblr.com. The lass that runs it is incredibly knowledgeable and posts such amazing pictures and information.
Yes, perhaps Enchanted Maiko Comb and a nod to "apprentice geisha" in the description.
I could of sworn I remember this originally being a staff custom item at some point or another.
That said, if that's the correct term for the item then I honestly see no reason why it shouldn't be changed.
I've gone ahead and used 's suggestion! The item name is now Enchanted Maiko Comb and the description is This comb once belonged to a trainee geisha who was very accomplished in the arts of dance and music. There is something magical about it.
This isn't really on our list of items to break up since it's a restockable item, not an old trunk or anything.
Aw really? That's a shame, it'd be so nice broken up. Oh well. Thanks for the name update ^^
It might in the future, it's just not a high priority like the old trunks and stuff are. We have a list of the old spooky trunks that we want to break up first. :)
Oooh, I've gotcha. Things to look forwards to at morostide then? 0w0
Yup, 'cause it wasn't my suggestion at all. At least some credit would be nice, but whatever xD
I look forward to seeing this item being revamped in the future. Such a beautiful piece! Thanks for taking the name change into consideration, and thanks for the suggestion !
