Ah, my main concern is the lack of shading on the overlay. Even though it's sheer, it should still have some kind of shading on it to give it more depth.

Also, CW rules require that there be at least 3-5(?) different shades.

For example, the , and all have shading, despite being a solid colour.

Even staff/official wearables such as the have some shading on there.

It might also be a good idea to colour the lines inside the overlay so that it won't stand out as much. Keep them visible, but dull it so that it won't look strange on an HA with clothes on.

The CI also concerns me since the lineart seems pretty blurry and there doesn't seem to be enough shading on it as well (the shading rule applies for CWs). These are CWs I've drawn, and while it doesn't need to look as detailed, it should have some depth as well:

Even simple CIs that I've made like the still has shading on the CI.

Other than that, I think this CW is really cute and would love to see it on-site! I hope this helps a little bit. ;u;7

Yeah the shading thing has been a problem for me =.= Since I want it to lay smooth and flat I can't wrinkle it up to make places to shade. But I think I have an idea with that and I'm gunna try to do more shading,

I didn;t think of coloring the lines! The black lines were bothering me but coloring it just didn't occur to me at all! Thanks!

The CI wasn't done by me, so I'm not sure what to do...I don't wanna ping ryuu and be rude lol >.<

If you commissioned the user for the CI, then it's really not being rude since it's partially their responsibility to help you get your CW on-site. I've had to change commissioned CWs several times in the past so that it would be accepted since the person paid me and I am fulfilling my part.

Hey [-Ryuga]! Thought you might be interested in 's critique of the CI a few posts up! I think they make a good point! Is there anything you can do? I'm super sorry I'm buggin you more eek

(sorry about the pings, figured I'd ping you both) I'm p new to CW so advice is cool. I'm using Krita as my main program and it doesn't scale very well (as is evident in my recent Vault Forearm Technology CI), but I'm not sure how to get around that yet. As for the shading, I have 3 main bits of shading (if you don't count the gradient (which is about 3-8 different colors) for the fins and tail), I also did a darkening overlay for some of the deeper shadows (mainly on the tail). But again the scaling problem makes it look like there's less? I'll try to see if I can find the full size file I was working in to show all the different shading and hopefully we can go from there?

[-Ryuga] I have Krita as well, though I usually draw my CIs on SAI. What canvas size do you start at? Also, it might be because the shading is either too light or too thin so that it becomes less visible after you've downsized it.

[-Ryuga] Whether or not you draw with your tablet or a touchpad isn't the problem, but the problem is that Inknote may tweak the CW to staff standards, but it still may very well not be accepted because of the CI.

The first thing you should do is taper the lines. Use your eraser tool and a thinner brush setting to make the lines less thick and blocky. Also, lowering the opacity of the brush slightly can help a lot.

I was responding to your question of if I was using a tablet...? And I understand that, I thought that's why you're giving me the advice/critique you are...? I'm so confused by the beginning of your post.

Wouldn't lowing the opacity of the brush make the lines appear grey instead of black? Though I will play around with thinning and tapering the lines.
