I'm currently in search of any authors who may pattern their writing style similar to that of John Green's style. I first got into Green's books about five years ago, and I absolutely fell in love with them. I was fresh out of high school, so they all resonated with my late-teen self pretty well. I'm in my early twenties now and I'm looking for something new to read, and I can't help but recall how much I enjoyed those books. My question is does anyone know any other authors/ titles that they could recommend to me in this case?
I'm not picky. I'd even take off-topic suggestions too if need be.
Hey there! I'm a huge fan of John Green's books (I've read them all multiple times, haha). I'd definitely recommend David Levithan, who wrote Will Grayson, Will Grayson with John. And maybe this is more unrelated, but I've also absolutely loved all of Jeffrey Eugenides' books. His work is a little more adult-oriented, but it's immensely well written and covers so many interesting topics. And if you're looking more for other YA authors, Maureen Johnson is great!
P.S. Are you going to see Paper Towns when it comes out??
Awesome! Thank you! Are there any titles by Jeffrey Eugenides that you would recommend for my first read? His books may even be a little more relevant to me anyway now that I'm in my early twenties.
To answer your second question, I will be seeing it either this week or next. I even going with a girl who I bonded with through talking about John Green's novels. So I'm really looking forward to it!
That's awesome!! I'm seeing it Thursday with a close friend who's also a big fan of his. I can't wait!
I'd recommend starting with The Virgin Suicides. That's probably his best-known book—and his shortest, haha. The Marriage Plot is definitely relevant to the university experience, and Middlesex is just all-around fantastic, but it's super long.
Thank you! I'll definitely look into those! I've needed something new to read for a while now, so thanks!
I think any fan of John Green would also enjoy (as I also recommend David Levithan) books by Rainbow Rowell, Stephanie Perkins, and A. S. King. All of their books are funny, cute, a little sad.
Also try Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. It has a similar vibe.
