Hey!
I just thought I'd ask you guys what you're reading this summer? I am currently on the second book of the Outlander series and I'm loving it so far!
It would be great to hear what everyone is reading and maybe even some suggestions!
Thanks!
My summer reading list is the pile of books (around 30) I have from work that are in the corner of my room. Right now I'm reading From a High Tower by Mercedes Lackey as a quick read, then getting back to the pile of YA fiction.
I feel like I always have like 20 books just waiting for me to read xD and then more and more come out and I can't see to catch up!
I work as a part-time teen librarian, so I constantly have middle grade and young adult fiction in piles around my room right now. I'm about to start I am Princess X, and hoping that it's a good one since I like Cherie Priest's adult fiction.
I have about 14 books by my bed that I should be reading. Slowly but surely but they are all kinds of fantasy novels. Currently going to start on book 3 of the Night Angel Trilogy so that should be exciting.
I'm a going through the Percy Jackson series right now :)!
Oh wow! That sounds like the best job. I'm in college and I'm taking classes while nannying this summer to I have like no free-time xD But I still love YA fantasy fiction. I read a could books in the Cinder series and those were pretty good!
gosh I love just looking at a pile of books! haha!
That's my boyfriends favorite series! He's always telling me to read them!
That was a really good series! And I say that as I look at my omnibus edition of Night Angel Trilogy on the bookshelf in front of me.
It's not the easiest job by far, but I really love it. My library doesn't get a lot of teens, but we get 5th-8th graders who are too old for most of the children's programs, so I do more work with that age group. So there's a reason my pile of books skews towards middle grade and young adult.
I really enjoy YA books and I probably will for a long time. Books aimed at "adults" sometimes can be too much. But then again there are a lot of not so great YA books 😳
It is always so cool to find others who have read or will read the same stuff you have! I really have enjoyed the series so far and just dove into book 3 last night.
After this I plan on reading a book called "Age of Ra" by James Lovegrove, it looks pretty interesting to say the least.
I know quite a bit about some of the not so great YA books out there, as well as some of the overly-common tropes in publishing right now. At this point, if I find a YA book that doesn't have a love triangle, I'm happy.
Let me know how that book is when you get to it! I'm always open to suggestions for things to read outside of what I should be reading for work.
My TBR pile has gotten out of control so I definitely need to plan in some summer reading time. I'm currently part of the way through both Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen and Ready Player One by Ernest Cline so those are definitely on the list. Also on my list are: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Lois Lane: Fallout, Rebel Mechanics, and The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly.
I've only got 2 books in my To Read pile right now, I'm running out of good suggestions ! But to stretch it as far as I can without having to scurry back to the library, I'm re-reading Get In Trouble by Kelly Link and Dante's Inferno, two super good books on completely opposite sides of the spectrum :^P
I'm about halfway through my To Read pile - I finished The Devil's Arithmetic a few days ago, and I'm heading to the library tomorrow to pick up Dead Inside: Do Not Enter: Notes from the Zombie Apocalypse. I excited because it looks really interesting.
