So I write a little bit of flash fiction now and then, though my true strength lies in novels. I wrote one piece that was supposed to be a reversal of expectations with a god of chaos and it was just supposed to be that little bit of flash fiction... ...but then I was chatting to said god and he told me a tantalizing tidbit. There are other gods referenced in the flash fiction, and he said that actually, while they may perform acts and seem as real as he is, they aren't; he made them up, they're just sock puppets.

I want to write about that, but I have no idea what I'd do to build a story around just that concept. Granted, I haven't worked hard on trying to come up with things because it'd be completely unrelated to my current WIP - it couldn't even be in the same multiverse. But I don't know if the plot would be about discovering that Zo, God of Chaos, is actually all the other gods too, or if there's some other plot and that tidbit gets uncovered during the quest or...what. Any ideas?

Ohhhh, such an intriguing story! I can understand about wanting to keep writing about that... (this kind of thing always happens to me, which is why my few short stories always turn into longer ones. Fast. ^.^)

But who said you'd have to write about it now? Unless Zo keeps bugging you that he wants his story told, now, thank you very much, why not put it on the back burner for a while? Take some time to work out more details, finish your current WIP (if necessary)...

As for the plot, how about having Zo "narrate" or comment some parts? Personally, I'd like to know what happens with Korav. He was resurrected by the God of Chaos, there have to be some kind of repercussions later in his life, right (at least the story gave me the impression that the society he lives in would be like that)? Maybe he was too young to remember and no one told him at first, but then, years later, someone uttered a thoughtless remark and then he wants to find out what happened. Zo might wonder if there were any special reasons why he just saved that boy and starts to watch the boy/ young man closer. So while Korav goes from finding out what that strange remark meant to becoming intrigued by the God who saved his life, Zo watches as Korav slowly uncoveres the secret of the "sock puppet gods"...

Anything useful so far? ;-)

Ehehe - this phenomenon isn't new to me, but I thought I'd finally managed to write a single bit of flash fiction. I had managed to do a short story that was just that...My own WIP right now was supposed to be a standalone but I accidentally the trilogy.

Anyway that IS a good point. Zo is content to brood in the back of my head. He's enjoying the time with the Trickster God from the WIP universe. Since I wanted to start querying with my current WIP, it would be nice to finish that first. But those ideas are good - I think Zo could be a really interesting narrator, and I didn't think of continuing with Korav. The main thing that happens is people expect there to be something totally weird with him but he's just fine, like he'd been healed by a normal god...Korav could be a really good candidate to uncover the "sock puppets" though. So thanks very much for that!

Also, thanks for reading - glad that you found it interesting :D

Oh yes, that sounds rather familiar... For me, a school assignment and a weirdly vivid dream rapidly turned from two pages into a trilogy (and not one of them complete - I started 10 years ago and can't write the events in chronological order to save my life... ^.^").

About Korav, I wasn't thinking that he'd be different but rather that everyone would perceive him to be different. The notoriously unrelyable Zo had just resurrected him, no weird conditions or twists attached (plus the fact that he has been resurrected at all - I don't think that would count as a normal experience in any universe). From the way everyone was talking about Zo in your story, their reactions to Miraza's plan... It made me think that there was no way they'd just shrug and think, "Oh well, let's get back on with life." And that was precisely why I was curious about what would happen. For me, his story would have been the most interesting to explore and write about. :-)
