My idea is to change the referrals points to Friendship points, because it's too difficult to get them now, and the items are just sitting there alone with no one to buy them :( You still get them immediately from referring new users but you will also get them while interacting with other users here in Subeta, so this is the reason of the name change "^_^ You get them randomly while: 1.You comment, Smail to your FRIENDS ONLY!. 2.You post at the Welcome or Help forums. 3.You send a gift to a user - the rate will be double if you send a gift to a user at his/her birthday. 4.Adding a new friend. 5.When you like a HA or a post
The rate of those points will be high and rare (1 in a month-two months if you are lucky), but not impossible to get, the reason is to keep the high value of the items in the shop, but still make them available.
What do you think?
Unless they are insanely rare and hard to get, I can't support this.
Like, if you're lucky to get 1 a month, it's fine by me. Otherwise, no. Also, I don't think I'd like getting random comments from people, just because they want points. I'm not really social
Then again, wasn't it discussed that referral points could be used as future social media prizes and stuff?
Because people posting their stuff on social media could potentially bring people onsite.
That's an idea I could get behind.
exactly what I said, very rare but not impossible, 1 in a month-two month or even more..
About comments and Smail, yes you are right, so it can be limited to friends only, I don't want to be flooded by comments from random users too..
Yes it was discussed last year I think, but nothing happened since then.. so I don't know if this plan will go live eventually..
I really like those ideas, but I don't think they should be for referral points. It would be interesting to incorporate them for some other feature, perhaps for forum shop points instead since that already involves social interaction.
I like that referral points are difficult to earn, it's a good way of bringing people onto the site. Then again, the points that I earned were the result of me constantly bugging my friends that were not into pet sites. Once they had joined, they never returned :(.
I agree that it is too hard to get. I think there should be a small points card or the items sold at the MC for a high price(like antique shop-esque high), with a limited amount and for a limited time. And that makes it an sP sink that won't ruin the profitability of refferal points.
I've only gotten one referral point the entire time I've been on subeta (about 4 years actively playing) and that was my bf who just signed up because I wouldn't stop bugging him/talking to him about it :P I technically referred one other person but she forgot to credit me while making an account :x
I entirely support a different way of earning those points as there are quite a few items in there I know I'll probably never be able to get any other way. I really like the idea of using social media for them, like facebook/twitter/tumblr etc. because I post about subeta on those already, but I'm not really sure how that would be regulated...
At any rate, hopefully there will be a different way to earn them in the future c:

One of the problems with referrals is that people never return, only 1 out of 11 of my referrals is playing, this system is just not working.. and people kinda gave up on it..
Yeah to sell them for sp for a limited time can be useful, but it can harm the referral system and the shop, because I for example only need the 3 plushies right now, and if I would be able to buy them for sp, I don't see myself caring anymore about referrals or this shop..
brb, spamming likes and comments and sending 10000 junk gifts :o

I feel like some of these suggestions might lead to spam. Liking as much as you can, gift bombing, unwanted friend requests on your birthday because people want to bomb you with junk for points.
Personally I would only be okeyish with releasing referral points if it's rare/absolutely worth it. Spamming welcome in the forums doesn't seem me worth of any points. But I do feel like it would be nice if they would become available in another way (again: if it requires sufficient effort).
I already referred more than 50 people, there is really no one left that I know who potentially would want to play subeta, yet new things are released that I can't get because almost every single person I know already signed up. New items show up in the shop but not new potentially interested people in my friends group.

turns off non-friend gifts c_c NO POINTS FOR YOU SORRY I'M NOT YOUR POINT WHORE.
As much as I really need/want referral points, this would definitely lead to spamming. No support. Nope, sorry.
But wow this
I'd really like to see some kind of currency exchange system where we could trade one kind of point for another, with an appropriate exchange rate. Something like, 1000 wizard tokens per referral point, 500 wiz tokens per raffle ticket, etc, as appropriate for what the staff thinks each currency should be worth.
As said many times above, I wouldn't like gifts and comments spam either.
However I would like more opportunities to get these points. Social media contests, extra referral points once every few months, and all kinds of incentives would really help bringing new users to the site. We can have weekly FB and Twitter games, in which we have the share/retweet/answer a question, and a random person is selected and awarded points. Or we can have some kind of referral bonus week, in which if we refer a new user, we get an exclusive item only available for the week and double referral points. Kinda like CSC bonus weekends.
Nope. I don't like the idea of 'friendship' points. we have enough currencies thx.
Referral points are insanely hard to get because we have to refer people who will actually play a little! What will be the point of referrals if the rate is this low.

It would also be a little pointless if we could freely exchange currencies. It's practically asking to change every special shop to only accept wizard tokens, for example.

Not drunk, just throwing out an example because I have no idea what a referral point goes for these days. Hence the "as appropriate" caveat. :)
Most of the items are not in shops, including 2-3 points items.
Does that give you an idea how much a referral point is worth now?
Not really. Maybe a year ago (?) I exchanged a bunch of CSC for a bulk purchase of stickers from the referral shop. I can't recall the exact exchange rate, but I think at the time I had also seen some of the more expensive referral shop stickers going for 50m sP or so, and the rate I paid was less than that (I certainly don't have a lot of CSC to throw around!). I would expect that people tend to hoard their referral points and then sell them for what people actually want, rather than buying things and then waiting around for them to sell in their user shop. The point being that the supply of referral shop items in user shops (and their corresponding price), is not necessarily reflective of the supply (and price) of referral points that users are willing to sell.
Yeah, the referral shop stickers were released in the crystal shop as well, this is why they were going for this low.
Before this, they were going for 100-125M each
And, 100M then isn't worth the same as 100M from now
Sure, but this argument is beside the point. A referral point could go for 1k tokens or 10k tokens or something higher -- like I said, "as appropriate for what the staff thinks each currency should be worth." They seem to have done a reasonable job at that with the new antique shop -- no reason to think a currency exchange couldn't be arranged similarly.
