I apologize in advance if this has already been brought up. But I just accidentally zapped a pet that wasn't supposed to be zapped. I understand this was MY fault. But, I feel like it would be beneficial to have an image of the pet you were about to zap. It takes a lot of time and Sp to get the experiment you want. So losing it, and knowing I'm going to have to go through that process again, is a bummer. I understand that one might argue that it's not that hard to avoid zapping the wrong pet, but mistakes happen. And maybe if you see the image of your pet you can catch the mistake before it happens.
Edit I changed the title due to users having a better idea than my original one. This is a suggestion of having a default "None" selection option on the Zapper to prevent accidentally zapping a pet without selecting from the drop down. I don't take credit for this idea, but I'd still like to see it implemented if possible c:
The Zapper is literally a dropdown, can't people check which pet they're zapping?
I'd rather have people spend the extra ten seconds to doublecheck what they're choosing in the dropdown. With the original zapper, it was understandable, since it was the active pet, but now. You're already choosing which pet.
. I get that. But in this case I was just in a zone and didn't even notice that I forgot to select which pet I was zapping. It was stupid as all get out but it happened. It's kind of easy to do, especially when you're constantly zapping pets. I checked the "pay 400,000 Sp" box and then just went through the motions of zapping.
I don't think adding the image of your pet is necessary, but as I can only see this happening by being zoned out I dont think it would hurt to add a default "None" option pre-selected from the drop down menu. That way if you just click and pay you'll get an error letting you know you forgot to select a pet.
You could also temporarily change the order of your pets and move your current zap rat to the front, to prevent these mistakes and just save a little extra time. That's what I plan on doing when I figure out what experiment I'm going for for one of my pets.

What also might work is to "opt out" of zapping for certain pets. Have a page kinda like the pet spotlight nomination page where you can choose which ones will show up on the zapper page. I'd love to prevent my permanent pets from even showing up. But yeah it used to have an image...I don't think that necessarily needs to be added back.

I doubt people would catch themselves until it's too late, it's so automatic to just pick the pet from the dropdown and click zap, a picture probably wouldn't help because people would do the same thing.
But I could get behind a default "None" option or the choice to opt out.
The default "None" suggestion is way better than my idea. I edited my original post in favor of that one :).
I just accidentally zapped the wrong pet because of this. :x
I like the idea of setting the default to "None"

OPT IN-OUT FOR ZAPPING OMFG YES. CAN WE ALSO GET THIS FOR TRAINING??? BECAUSE I KEEP TRAINING MY DUDE WHO HAS COMPLETELY EVEN STATS AND EVERY TIME I'M JUST LIKE 'FUUUUUUUUCK" and have to train him even again, and he's expensive OTL
opt in/out makes sense for this, I don't see why this is a bad change.
you should keep training him anyway ;( you've got calling Cinthia Gollum now :p
I'd prefer it if the dropdown list was auto-focused on your active pet instead like it used to be the case in the old zapperv2 (if I remember right).
Other pet Other pet Other pet etc.
LOLOL I AM SUCH A BAD INFLUENCE 😆 And I mean like, I would, but I /only/ trained his level and strength for SAI jobs, so now it's uber expensive to train anything else, and frankly not worth it. :'(
I personally like having the arrangement of your pets determine the dropdown menu more than the active pet. My active pet is my battle pet, so I like to get his stats raised when I get Oracle quests, But fuck yea would I be pissed if I accidentally zapped him. (Dude, negative stats? No thanks. Changing my nostalgic baby? Hella no thanks.) Easy solution: Put your zapper pet first in line: like dis. Is your zapper pet also your active pet? Look, now it can just be first!
how much is training him?
Training Time: 900 minutes Cost: 81180 sP
didn't realize it was that expensive o_o (why isn't this revamped yet so it scales better. it takes forever and is expensive)
couldn't figure out how to comment you so I have to say something on topic:
idk I think it would be nice if it was like the battle page where you have small little pictures of your pets and you clicked on which one to zap. this would be annoying for people with 100,000 different pets, so an opt out option to make them not appear would also be nice in this too, that makes sense to me.
:P Re-arranging 40+ pets just for the sake of zapping one is not fun. The re-arranging is a good work-around for folks who have like... 10-ish pets and under, but it's a nightmare for me. Especially if you're used to having your pets in a particular order.
Yes, I do know that you can save a custom pet order, but honestly? Compare all that pissing around with re-arranging your pet order to clicking one link to switch your active pet and you can see why the active pet thing is an easier solution.
