With tadoku starting up again in a few days I want to get back into reading more stuff in Japanese. recently I've been neglecting my Japanese studies but I'm trying to start it up again.

So I was wondering, what kind of manga have you read in Japanese?

I started a few but I really loved Orange by Takano Ichigo and Yutsuba&! Yotsuba was the first manga I read in Japanese and it's rather easy to read and so much fun!

I can't read japanese, but I'd love to learn to read it.

I do have a lot of Ribon, Nakayoshi, Ciao, and Hana to Yume manga issues that I'd love to read.

But I do have the whole new Kanzenban editions of Sailor Moon. I just love flipping through them.

Even though I can't read them, I can see and imagine what's going on because of the pictures. xD

If you are looking to read manga in Japanese, I recommend these:

Doraemon is especially good for those who are beginning their Japanese studies as it uses furigana over the vast majority of the kanji, it is a good way to expose you to a lot of kanji you may not otherwise see in class (i.e. field-specific kanji for science), and the grammar is generally very easy and straightforward. The only downside is that it is somewhat difficult to come by in the US aside from specialty bookstores like Kinokuniya which only have stores in California and NYC.

For the more advanced learner, Nichijou is really entertaining in its original language. I picked it up while I was studying in Tokyo and because many of the jokes are very culturally-oriented, I was able to understand more of the 'everyday life' I ran across while I lived there and appreciate the humor on a deeper level. That's not to say you HAVE to study abroad to understand it, though it would require some research on your part to decipher some of the cultural quirks. That's what was so great about Nichijou! Not only can it help you with your reading/comprehension skills, but it will teach you a lot about Japanese culture, which is not often talked about in-depth in standard Japanese classes.

I'm learning Japanese currently, and also nuts deep in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. When I found out that had furi, I was like, omg this is my freakin' mission ok :U I love JJBA so much LOL. I also have a couple (about 5) BL tankoubon and I'm like halfway through one. Its surprisingly easy to pick up on. Love stories use simple language, and it really jumpstarts my motivation because all I really need to do is learn the kanji for common verbs and adjectives and I'm already on a roll.

Im sure doraemon is good but a lot of learners also say "well... don't its boring and for kids" LOL. Your avi is freakin cute bro.10/10

Orange looks like a really fun read > o< thank u for mentioning it!!! =D I think i like shoujou manga but i kinda grew up an edgy kid and went for yaoi so i dont really have much exposure to it LOL. That being said, Cousin by Ikuemi Ryou is a really nice read. err in English at least cuz no furi ; -; IDK, maybe you're better at Kanji than me.

Japanese is such a good language and i really wanna learn it well but ughhh kanji is such a wall for me xD; gotta keep on truckinnn
