What do you think of billboards? You know, the ones for things users want to advertise. Do you ever click on them? Have you ever bought a piece of art or anything because of a billboard? If you had a shop or something else to advertise, would you buy one? I just opened a shop where I am selling a bunch of arts and crafts things (I can make just about anything) but I'm not getting much traffic at all (just a couple friends) so I'm thinking about getting a billboard. But last time I used one, I didn't get much of anything out of it. I'm going to be making a banner of sorts for my signature, but other than that, what else can I do to advertise? I'm trying to make enough money to buy myself a new computer.

I use adblock, so I don't even see them. I can't really buy any real life stuff from here because I don't use Paypal, but if it weren't for adblock I'd probably click on the thread at least once. I usually do if I see stuff in someone's signature or something (but I don't usually post either, I feel kind of awkward being like "hey I can't buy anything but you have nice stuff anyway" or whatever ;^; )

I don't know that I would use a billboard personally, because of the number of users that have adblock kind of wastes your views :x

I have adblock as well. I think signature advertising is a good idea though

I didn't even think of adblock. Well, damn. I guess I won't bother with a billboard then. Signature advertising it is then.

even when i didn't have adblock, i pretty steadfastly ignored ads and billboards… kind of a reflex, i guess, when you spend so much time on the internet you have to train yourself to ignore those flashy squares and rectangles, to make your brain automatically associate anything that even remotely looks like an ad with being obnoxious and useless and not worth clicking, let alone looking at.

Like many of the other users said, a good portion of Subetans use Adblock. And even then, people may not even pay attention anyways.

I think that you will probably have more success with a signature banner. Especially if you post a lot on the forums, people will be drawn to it more and more. You can't block a signature, as far as I know! Plus, it's free.

You could also try putting a link to your shop on your profile, but I'm not sure how many people that would bring in.

When there's masquerade or moro going on, I click them to dance with users or ToT because it's easier. But when there aren't events like that going on, I tend to pay less attention to them. I wouldn't buy art, because I don't buy it anyway. But they're good for advertising during events if you want to
