It would be super useful if the items in the Donation Corner that are on our wl were marked with a box like they are everywhere else on the site. It would also be great if hovering over an item brought up the item description with the wonderful new Account Search and Search Shops options imbedded.

That's not what I think the DC is for, imo. I think its for donating items no matter what the cost and wling it would make it too easy, but that's just me.

If you're that concerned with your free stuff being off your WL, you can always try the Giveaways forum instead.

Staff already said that they weren't going to do this, mainly so people grab items they need, not expensive items to sell.

That's the whole point, to be able to grab the things you need so you can leave the other items for other users. I can't tell you how many times I've snagged something that I thought I needed, only to discover I did not. I don't personally care bout the value of items and would rather leave them for others that need them. "Shop search" would be useful in the instance that you miss the item you needed, so you can purchase it instead.

Of course there are ways to do these things already, but it would be much more manageable this way.

Just because you say you won't abuse the feature, doesn't mean others won't. It's capitalism at its finest.

How is having a box around your wl items abusing the feature? As for the account search and shop search, people can do them anyway.

It's not the box around the WL items. It's the shop search feature. Currently, yes, you can shop search items anyway, but with the feature, it makes it a lot easier and faster.

Help me explain.

There's nothing to explain that hasn't been understood. I was mainly suggesting and referring to having boxes around wl items so that that is all we take.

If you grab something you didn't need, and don't care about the value, then why not just donate it again so someone else can get it?

I don't think the original suggestions are bad, exactly...more like...well, kind of like looking a gift horse in the mouth, I guess? I mean, if you're getting something free from the donation corner, isn't that enough really? Especially if it's a nice item, even if it's not one you really want. It's...it's free. Sell it or give it back if you don't want it.

This doesn't work for the same reason that blue wishlist boxes wouldn't work in the NPC shops. People could obtain high value items too easily.

One point with the WL box is one doesn't have to make a wishlist of items one wants...instead one could make a wishlist of valuable items to resell. That's one way to abuse something like WL boxes showing in the donation bin. There are others.

Personally I like grabbing things out of the donation bin that are unfamiliar to me. That way I get to explore different items, LOL I mostly find junk that way, but occasionally stumble onto really good stuff.

I'd rather this not happen. These are my two big main reasons why I think this:

SPOILER (click to toggle)

  1. You can't hover the items in the dc, meaning you can't tell if an item is a CW or worth 100 sp. It's all in the luck of the click, timing, and knowledge of items. Imagine being a newbie/ someone with zero access to CSC and finding a CW in the dc? It's probably going to be pretty darn exciting. Heck, even finding an item in there that's worth a little more than average would be exciting for some users. Adding hovers would remove the mystery(not the right word but not sure what else to use here?) that seeing a big chunk of items in the dc involves. (Speaking from personal experience, I've gotten a CW and even some fairly expensive items from the dc but didn't know they were like that until I saw them in my invo and looked on shop search. It gave me a huge happy surprise!)

Also, I like seeing items in the dc that I have no clue what they are! Sure I could open up another tab with the shop search and look at it but where's the fun in that? If the item I never saw before ends up being some kooky wearable or neat collection item, I get overjoyed! I don't care if the item is only worth 10 sp, it's something I had no clue existed. And if the items worth a bit, then its overjoy x10. What luck! An item I had no clue existed and I save some sp in the process! Time to go thank the person that dropped it off in the dc.

  1. Abuse of the system. There are times where I will see a group of very expensive items all on page of the dc, but still have the timer. With the wl box in place what's stopping me from adding those items so I can find them easier when my timers up? Nothing, unless someone else gets them before me. But then what's stopping anyone from creating a massive WL of expensive items just so they can grab things from the dc to resell?(We don't have WL or hovers in the main shops right now either, I think I remember somewhere keith saying that it was so restocking was fair to everyone, and you couldn't just WL all the rares/super rares and refresh constantly looking for the blue boxes? Please correct me if I'm wrong. )

Example: One day I go to the dc and I see a Natasha, an Ether, and a CW on one page but I picked up a Red tossed Suitcoat 2 minutes beforehand. I don't want the Natasha, Ether, or the CW but I know I could sell them for lots. I WL them all and keep refreshing the dc. 3 minutes pass and I get a page with the Ether on it. Normally I would have missed it, because let's be honest I'm probably just scanning the pages so I can nab something as soon as possible and reset my wait time again and I wouldn't recognize it from any other non-expensive sword on site. But with the WL box there I can see that Ether plain as day. I snap it up and sell it for big profit. Where's the fun in that for anyone? Someones huge generosity became my greed. I'm pretty sure that's not what the intended purpose of the dc is...

While I understand where you're coming from (grab only the items you want, leave the other stuff for other people) it could very easily be abused from people that don't think the same way. I can also see a potential problem with the strain it would put on the servers, I'm not sure how the dc works completely but constantly scanning peoples wl might cause the dc to become a laggy mess?
