I just made a post in the currently playing thread & made me think of how stupid lucky I have been at times when going to the local pawn shops. I used to do this all the time. Would go to the local pawn shops & record shops everytime I got payed & at times would spend 200$ on cds. I would sometimes buy doubles to re-sell. For me even if I never heard of the band if the album cover looked good I would buy it.
A few of mine Harlots Webb - Wild Times. 2$. Not as rare now but I had sold one for 90$ Pretty Boy Floyd - Bullets & Lipstik 1989 Vinyl 20$ (The Canadian band before they had to give up their name to the American band) Pretty Boy Floyd - Leather Boyz with Electric Toyz 3$ Wildside - Under the Influence 2$ Wildside - Hang On Lucy (CD Single) 1$
But my absolute best find was Flame - Blaze 2$ I sold it privately (which I now regret) for 550$ US What made it stupidly high was the fact it was the original release, on the original label. It was later reissued, about a year after i sold it. & is now dirt cheap.
I still have all the rest that I mentioned All originals & not reissues. Like I said I used to do this all the time. Not as much anymore because Pawn Shops aren't stupid anymore. But sometimes it's fun to go into one & take a look around, just in case.
Here's a list of some ebay rarities. Some of the prices I think are crazy. Top 500 eBay Rarities

I don't know if it's the kind of "lucky" you were asking for, but I picked a copy of Heliogoland by Massive Attack out of a dollar bin because the album art was catching, not having any idea what to expect from the album.
It's only because of that chance purchase that I even found out about what's now one of my favorite bands AND one of my favorite genres.
