I just got this game for Easter. I've been slowly getting interested in the Monster Hunter series but wanted to wait till 4 as it's flagship Monster caught my eye and the fact a friend who I normally don't have many games I can coop with her with is likely to get it was even more incentive.

The problem is i'm really struggling with the controls. I can't get the camera to work right so I'm getting hit when the monster is behind me and I can't see it, attacking blind, or doing more running then fighting. I'm also missing or being unable to dodge well with certain weapons ( got hit repetitively with the Lance as the dodge made me back into attacks) and there's other things that I can't figure out ( I have my Palicio's deployed but they don't seem to assist me in fighting and I can't find out how to comand them to).

I was getting hit....alot on a Great Jaggi, which I've heard is the weakest of the large monsters in the game since I can't really practice on watching his patterns with the camera working against me for the most part to learn to dodge well ( when the weapons are working with me) or to get in a "safe" spot to hit him when the camera faces away from him as I try to get to safe spot makeing me try to turn it around and likely get hit. If I can't manage not getting hit by Jaggi then I have no idea if I can even handle end game fights which can possibly one shot if you don't dodge.

Can anyone who has gotten far in MH4U or played any of the 3DS Monster Hunter games suggest something I'm missing so I can start enjoying the game rather then get frustrated? I've played games with rough controls before and the game so far has been interesting so I'm determened to not give up but any advice to make this easyer would help.

Do you have your monster always in target? If so, you just need to be quick and press the shoulder L button a lot (I guess) it usually worked for me :o

I've been doing that and it's helped some but I still have targeting issues when the monster moves away which makes the fight harder then it needs to.

I'll have to make sure I have space on my friends list as I was getting friend safaris in pokemon but I'll add you. Sorry on delays though, my computer's been in the shop since Wendsday which is makeing me upset as I'm going to miss out on a Easter event in another game and it's reward this year :(

I actually got the new 3ds with duo c stick today - mom surprised with it- so I'll add you there. I'll have to alert my friend also when she gets the game.

The darn spider ( forgot his/her name ) got me bad after a mess up in timeing my Charge Blade combos so I felt I need to get something for hopefuly better control before trying again. Warning though I am still a novice so I'll likely make mistakes in timeing and where to stand ^^; - lacks a set atm also but I've upgraded what I could till I ran out of cores -

When my new 3ds charges I'll add you.
