Okay - I have references for what I'm looking for, and also a completely terrible rough sketch:

I will note, my crappy sketch is shown with no background and then I put it over the clock tower BG but I layered a semi-transparent white layer between the background and my terrible sketch so it stood out more. ALSO MY SKETCH IS SHIT AND NOT REALLY WHAT I WANT BUT I FELT LIKE I NEEDED TO SHOW WHAT I KINDA MEANT?

I want the wings to appear like the burnt afterimages of the dead angels and kinda like the flashes we get when the other angels' wings are seen (now they're all crispy like in this one and I really like it). I want this to go on the background layer, not the back layer, so it can be layered over even full BGs. I think I kinda want a VERY light shadow to cover the rest of the space.

Also - as you can see in the refs, the wings are generally very wide, however our workspaces are narrow and not wide so we'd need to get them in a long vs wide way which is sad.
