I've been drawing with a Bamboo Fun & Touch for a few years now and - even though it was a present from my Grandpa - I. have. had. enough. I accidently fiddled with the settings when I first got it and I can't change them because the driver is always broken. Whenever I keep my laptop open for too long or Windows needs an update, it's unusably slow and jittery until I restart the whole thing. Plus I dropped it on the floor a few years back so the cable is loose and keeps falling out when I draw.

So I want to get a new one.

To be honest I only got the Bamboo tablet because I had one before and it's the only brand I know; I didn't know where to look and, by the time I'd read some less than flattering reviews of Bamboo in general and the Fun & Touch in particular, it was too late. I'm looking for a tablet which:

-Is less than £200, because I'm poor.

-Is easy to set up because I'm dumb.

-Has a big screen.

-Handles details well.

-Doesn't break every time I look at it funny.

-Works with Windows 7.

Thanks for your help!

Coming from a poor college student: I currently use the Bamboo splash which was $70USD (Not sure what that is in Euros, I cant math) when I got it at the time. It is some what similar to the Fun & Touch, however, I have never had any issues with mine and I love it c: Its been used on W7 & my mac. Its with a cord - they do make wireless ones though but I think they may cost more c: My dream is the gigantic Cintiq (or Intuos I cant remember) one my boss has ;-; its as big as his titan of a monitor.

The tablet with the display is the Wacom Cintiq. It used to come in three sizes: 13in (HD), 22in (HD), and 24in (16:10 HD). Now there's also the 27in QHD. They start at $1000, and the bigger ones are well $2000 and up. It might seem expensive, but back then when I was in school a decent laptop cost about nearly that much. My friend originally wanted the Cintiq 24HD non touch, but it was hard to find and did not have a physically rotatable screen. He got the more popular Cintiq 22HD instead. If the 27in QHD was available back then, he might have bought that if he could.

I currently have a 24HD Wacom Cintiq, but that is way out of your current budget. I do recommend wacom for any tablet. Perhaps a 12" wacom cintiq? I'm not sure if it's different where you like, but the bigger cintiqs range from $1000 to $5000. I think the 12"/13" are under that. If you do not want a cintiq, then I recommend an Intous 4 or 5. :)

as someone who also has the fun and touch, have you updated to the newest drivers from wacom? I had to factory reset my laptop a few months back, and I had the same issue with the driver breaking down every two miles as well.. but it's been doing amazing with the new driver. and I've been using it significantly more this month in particular, with not even a single freak out from the damned thing.

Not in a while, I admit. Have you ever had problems with it when Windows needs to update or when your computer has been on a while? That's when mine tends to go all laggy and shivery.

mine was doing the thing where if I had it plugged in for too long, or had like.. SAI open for more than a half an hour, it lost all pressure sensitivity and I had to unplug, put it back in and restart the program. That might account for the lagginess and glitching, because it tries to register the pen strokes as flicks instead of lines, which I'm really happy to say it hasn't been doing since the reset and reinstall.

What program do you use for the record? Because at least on SAI, I have to double check what setting I had the stabilizer on before I move on to a new project or I freak out when my pen isnt working right.

I have GIMP 2 - I should probably update that, now that I think of it. It's over three years old.
