There was no way for me to tell that the person was someone who I think is a waste of space, and I wouldn't have tried to dance with them or otherwise interact with them if I had any idea. Isn't it normally true you cannot even see the posts of someone you've blocked?

I tried to dance with them and got automatically warned.

In a RL masquerade, I have inadvertently danced with folks I would otherwise socially avoid. If this is on-purpose, then you can ignore this. Also, change the warning to "Oops, you've tried to dance with someone you don't like. Better make a discreet run for the Lounge where you can pretend at length you're explaining to NPC Barkeep how to make an especially elaborate apertif until they go away".

I would think blocked users can not work in dancing/kissing/ what have you threads, because it would break the flow.

i think it will be unfair if your blocked user didn't shows up in event forum like masquerade. especially if both of you are joining "dancing with people above you" thread or something similar. people who you block may be playing fairly, but it is very unfair for them if you are claiming their dance, but you can't dance with them.
