I'm all for keeping your items private if you prefer to do so but I do find it irritating and a waste of time to see items in the wardrobe and clicking on them, hoping to purchase said item, only to find that it's private. Can we maybe have a locked symbol added or something so we do't waste our time going to the shop for nothing? I do find it rather sad that so many items are private. I have resolved to not make any of mine that way anymore. Anyway does anyone agree with me or am I just in cranky mode today? lol

A lock symbol where? On the item image? No, because "private" status isn't supported by the site

On the shop search page next to the note that says it's in the shop? Maybe, but locked doesn't necessarily mean private. Some items are locked temporarily so people who wouldn't fit in the last batch to fill can pick up their copies first. I know of one user who has most if not all of his shop CWs locked even though very few are actually limited in any way.

I agree with this. I don't care about items being private, that's the person's choice and I respect that :) but it bugs me when I think there may be one available to purchase, get my hopes up only to realize it's private. ;_;

I'd rather KNOW that before I went to look for one so I wouldn't get my hopes up in the first place about ever getting a copy.

I feel like this might be a little hard to do...some items are private, some are friends only, some are group exclusive, some are cult exclusive, some are exclusive for people who have participated in certain events, some start out being friends only and then end up having public batches or copies later on down the road. I feel like there's so many different kinds of privates that this would be hard to implement. Especially since with a lot of privates now a days, there are at least 1 copy that ends up being public via auction...it would probably just make it look messy.

I understand your frustration for sure, every time I see a new CW I like I always just assume it's private to avoid disappointment later on...if I find out it's public I get suuuper excited haha.

I totally agree with you. I find it very frustrating that so many wonderful items are private or are very limited releases. I really don't understand the attraction to make an item private. I suppose some people want to make special items for friends and such and I guess I can understand that but it's still frustrating to those of us who really love them ourselves but can't get them. Just my 2 cents worth. :)

It doesn't have to be a lock symbol, was just tossing it out there.

@crescenta I just think some way to know the items are private would be nice. When I have time to shop I'm all for going to check out what they have but find it frustrating at other times. If it's an item that I can't purchase for whatever reason it would be nice to know beforehand. It may be impossible but it's nice to vent about it anyway :P

I personally just keep all of my shop items locked because I'm someone who likes to know who owns my stuff. But that's just me. I feel what's more disappointing is seeing that an item is private, but you missed slotting.

I wasn't disagreeing with anything based on the symbol you chose :P A lock symbol makes sense based on the fact that that's the symbol used in shops. But I don't think it would be all that helpful to have it show up

I've found this annoying since the day the CW shops were introduced, and I won't lie I've actually stopped looking at them [CW Shops] completely because I got tired of going "OH I NEED THAT... oh nevermind".

There's a super simple solution to this, though. Locked items = do not show up in the CW Shops wardrobe search. Simple as that, solves all the problems. If people want to sell them openly, they can unlock them.. if they're private/friends only then the friends in question should have already been made aware of them. If they're being sold publicly but require an invite than that's on the seller to go the extra yard to sell their items.

When those items stop showing up, I'll go back to browsing every few days just to see what's cropping up-- until then, naw.

I like that idea if nothing else. Why just tease us with stuff we can't have anyway :P

Sorry I'm dense at times :p Regardless of why its private I would just like to know I'd be wasting my time if I tried to go purchase it. I'm pissy like that :P

I'm fine with that it's your shop and your choice. Just wish I could know that somehow before I tried to go buy your item. Ahh maybe I'm just a cranky old wench lol

I agree with this completely. It's very annoying. I've just stopped going to the cw shops.

It's also annoying when you get a ping for something only to find out it's private. I recently got a ping from (not naming any names) for their whole group, got excited only to find out it was a private item for a specific user run event, that only participants could get. Why the hell ping your group then? I wanted to reach through the screen and box the fool.

I don't get advertising a private item any way unless you just like rubbing it in! :P You should in that case make a seperate ping group for said event. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that this bugs!

Yeah, this.

Currently items show on shop search as long as they have any quantity put on, even if the price is set to 0, which is... ??? I can't even. The item isn't even for sale. More disappointing than finding the item is locked is to not find it at all, lol.

This drives me bonkers! I don't understand why they appear in searches.

As for locked items - I think its on the seller to note in their description if locked items are private or if they are locked for another reason.

I know some users (like myself) will lock a limited item because you had a partial batch full so you want to make sure those people get the invites and have time to grab their copy first (since they responded to pings and claimed). I am happy to send out invites to anyone who asks as well since the number of copies available is taken into account when sending invites out. And once all are picked up or we reach the 7 day invite expiration, I unlock the items (which is also when I send out the notice to the shop's followers).

I don't lock private things in my shop - I don't move private things to my shop haha.

Recently I've added an item to my CW shop by mistake, without realizing I still had a claimed batch to release, so I had to lock the copies to let those people who had slots claim them before anyone else, lol, but I explained it in my CW shop description so I hope no one got mad at me =P As for private items they shouldn't even be tradable, if it was up to me.If you wanna make something private then every copy should be locked to the account you've slotted them to. I'm under the impression that people keep making everything private just so they can auction a copy =/

I agree about the auction part. I know everyone wants to make a profit on their item but in my opinion putting up an auction for one copy of a private item is just way over the top. The starting bids for said items are always way to high and continue to grow from there. I feel like it's taking advantage of people who just want to have a copy of an item and that is the only means to get it.

I just think it defies the purpose of having private items.. I mean, anyone can bid on a auction, and once the person buy that CW it's up to them to sell it or retrade it, so you have no control over it anymore, what's the point of making it private in the first place? .__.
