Hi everyone!

I'm an adult player, and I found Subeta yesterday when I was looking for alternatives to Neopets. I'm already addicted - I spent way too much time on here today when I should have been working! I love the extra freedom here, how much easier to make money, the beautiful pet art, and the avatars and their customization.

Anyway, I think I've figured out most of the basics by reading guides, but I've got a few questions:

1. Where can I buy backdrops for my avatar? I've seen some gorgeous ones in the Wardrobe, but when I click on the link to buy them the search never finds them in the shops. (I didn't go through all of them because my hands are already sore from all the clicking, but I checked quite a few.)

2. Are snowglobes always backdrops? Because I saw some in one user's shop, but they didn't show a preview when I moused over them so I'm not sure if they're backdrops or just a snowglobe item that you can't actually wear.

3. Is it worth using the Wizard Tokens, or should I sell them?

4. I already did the Wizard and Library quests today - does that mean I won't be able to complete Shinwa's quests?

5. Are there any good resources for customization? Like a database that will let you filter out items that aren't available anymore, or filter for certain price ranges?

6. I saw the pet spotlight and the "custom wearables" section of the shop that makes me think users can draw their own pets and clothes, is that correct? How does that work?

Welcome to Subeta! You have some great questions... here are a few short answers:

1. A lot of backdrops are expensive, but some are pretty cheap! Here are a couple that are on the less expensive side (hover for names):

2. Not all snow globes are backgrounds. If it doesn't have a preview in the hover, it's not a wearable. BUT- be aware that ornaments (which can be used during December to decorate a Luminaire tree) do have previews are are not wearable.

3. You can use the tokens to vend items at any one of the vending machines around Subeta. Here is a link to one of the machines that you can use to navigate to the others! Different machines give out different items, but Subeta Lodge has a guide here.

You can also use the tokens to buy items from the Token Shop, which is randomly stocked. There is a news announcement when these restocks happen, but it's worth it to have a few hundred saved away for these occasions because the items sell out fast.

4. I'm not sure about the answer to this one... I haven't done Shinwa's quest recently, so I'm not sure how this would work!

5. Subeta Lodge is an amazing resource for filtering items out, etc. Just be aware that sometimes the prices listed on there are not current and the actual price onsite may be VERY different!

6. This is indeed true! But both custom pets and wearables need to be approved by staff before they become official. Here is a forum thread that answers the FAQ about custom wearables.

Welcome to Subeta! :-) I totally understand your confusion! It took me a few days to figure things out (I still am, to be honest). But trial and error works well enough here.

As for your qquestions:

1. Hm, have you tried using the shop search? Then you won't have to browse all user shops individually. Just go to "commerce" and then "shop search", where you can type in the name of the item you're looking for (easiest way to find any item here). So you just have to find out the name of the background, then you can go off searching... ;-)

Since people here are really helpful, you can just ask what background someone is using if that particular background catches your eye. There is a special section in the forums for that, I think, but you could also just leave a comment on their profile.

2)Yes, I guess not all snowglobes are backgrounds. I think I've seen a few that were just decorative. It always pays to hover over items here! Sometimes the most unexpected items can be gorgeous wardrobe items (a good example is "Block Of Lake Ice", which looks boring but is actually a gorgeous background...).

3. Keep the Tokens! Every once in a while, the Token shop offers items and those can only be purchased with Tokens. I'm new myself, so I haven't actually witnessed a Token shop restock, but I've read about it in the forums and my friends here advised me to collect the Tokens diligently.

4. That depends on what quests Shinwa "asks" for. I would recommend trying anyways. :-) For tomorrow, I recommend starting out with Shiwa's quest and then finishing the others. I would also recommend to complete Sarah's and the Wizard's quest daily. The Wizard's quests will grant you the aforementioned Tokens, and Sarah's quests are only possible until you have a certain amount of sP.

5. I think http://www.subetalodge.org/ is a good resource for an advanced search. I don't think the Subeta search has any advanced search options (at least none that I have found yet), but Subetalodge definitely has. It's up to date and the Subeta staff also recommend using it.

6. For pets, it's called "Custom overlays" but I'm not sure how that or the creation of custom wearables works. But the moderator of this forum section (pumpkins) usually greets all newbies sooner or later. Even if she can't answer your question (which I doubt), she will probably be able to point out where you can find out. :-)

for information regarding items, i find subetalodge fansite is a great place to start.

1. the one you are looking perhaps custom wearables? i can't help there, i never bought one yet.

2. not all. if the hover doesn't show preview on HA, then it is not wearable.

3. wizard token has plenty use such as token shop, vending and pet zapper. i usually save them for use when token shop restock. they are worth saving.

4. probably won't, because she might ask for them. but you can try since she also ask from pete and maleria.

Sometimes, item images are hard to tell if they are wearable. But if you hover, and they don't have a preview, they aren't wearable.

Regarding wiz tokens, I personally prefer to sell them, since I find myself spending more sP than tokens. Tokens can be spent in token shop when they restock, or blackheart hollow (which is like smuggler's cove on neo) You can also use them on vending machines, which gives quite an amount of basic wearables.

You can upload custom pet overlays and read the guidlines here I really /LOVE/ that option lol.
