Hey & welome to Subeta! I was slightly overwhelmed at the beginning, too. Don't worry it'll pass! :-) And if it doesn't: Don't hesitate to ask for help! People here are really friendly and helpful. :-)

For starters, I recommend doing quests (Shinwa's quest first, wizard's & Sarah's quest after that, all three on a daily basis) to earn some sP and get some useful items.

You might also want to check out the giveaway section of the forums (filed under "Advertisements"), where more experienced users give away items they don't need anymore. That's a great way to get free items you might not be able to afford yet.

, I'm working on my pets at the moment :) Generally interested in making up stories for my pets! Writer indeed ;) I've also noticed that some people have pets of specific colours. How do they do that? Also, thanks for the links! They're really helpful :)

, ah I was referring to colours like bloodred, dark matter, spectrum etc. I'm not sure if those are randomly assigned when you get a new pet, or you have to get specific items to turn your pet into the colour you want?
