This seemed to be the only place that was appropriate for my question, so here we go...

I have a hard drive that my mom spilled coffee on a while back which damaged the casing it was in (the casing read the hard drive's information). I really want the data stored in it, but I don't know how to go about doing this.

Here's so info about the drive:

  • It's a 1.5TB SATA hard drive
  • The product is from Western Digital
  • It's casing was called something along the lines of 'My Book'

I would email the company, but they have some policy about registering to their site before you can get any customer support (which seems ridiculous to me), so I thought I might check here first in case anyone has some advice. (I really don't want to have to go through a registration process that will most likely cause junk mail and will only be used once)

Please ping! Thank you. :)

[edit] I can post pictures if that would help. If so, just ask.

You could put the insides into a new casing, but that would require some knowledge on computer hardware that I really don't have.
