I could use some advice on updating my battle set; I feel like I'm under-weaponed for tier 10 anyway but now that I'm staring down tier 11 and weapons are getting even more expensive I feel like I really need to start focusing on a better build.
I'm not much of a strategy battler. I generally tank in and try to get things done as quickly as possible after spamming shard/soma, so there's that. I know I'm under-AP'd, I'm working on that but it's slow.
Pet stats: Health: 1920 / 1922 Strength: 1922 Defense: 1922 Speed: 1922 Intelligence: 744
Current set:
Most of them are modded with singed crystals, the bludgeon with critical strike and natural armor as well.
I also have but it feels somehow underwhelming when I've tested it out. I keep hearing otherwise, but...
My scroll use is super minimal. I rely exclusively on and one
As I'm looking forward to 11, what's worth saving for? I've seen some discussion of Natasha vs. PBow, but not sure what I should be thinking of for the next level.
Trident is the best and I'll show you why comparing it to the other weapons you have.
Damage- Trident: ~42.5 icons Knocker: ~35.5 icons Bangle: ~29 icons Bludgeon: ~33 icons
Defense- Trident: 90 icons Knocker: 10/15/90 icons Bangle: 29 icons Bludgeon: ~16 icons
Other- Trident: 4 mod slots, heals 7%, good curse, amazing blessing (blocks all earth, magma and water for 3 turns) Knocker: 1 mod slot, heals 7.5%, meh blessing Bangle: 3 mod slots, heals 10%, pretty good curse Bludgeon: 3 mod slots, heals 5%
Based on attack and defense alone it is superior. The extra mod slot and blessing make it unbelievably good. I would remove the Bludgeon and Knocker and use the Trident with Bangle. That will leave you with one more spot for a weapon which you should fill with a Phoenix Quill.
I haven't tried Assassin Scroll but it looks good. Your scrolls can be filled by stuff you win like Psycho Smasher from beating GE 10x, Lucky Scroll from the Friday 13th Carereaper, Gift of the Forj Scroll from Forj. They will come.
For Tier 11 there are a few options depending on how much you want to spend. Malignant Rift Staff is a cheapish option and would be a small upgrade for the Bangle. Paintbrush Blades are a slightly better upgrade but also more expensive. In my opinion for the price PBow and Natasha are completely not worth it. If you want to spend money you are better off getting an Unstable Sample Syringe. It's at least 4x cheaper, does more damage, blocks 2 icons instead of 1 and has a great curse. I still don't know why people like the other two so much... Hope it helps!
trident is by far the best weapon you have, and i mean by faaaar. even with a set full of weps worth hundreds of millions each, trident is in my battling set for almost all opponents.
so now some upgrades you could make. you should get a good 100% freezer such as scientist specs or intricate energized helmet. Phoenix Quill is an absolute must for any battler t1-12. When you hit T11, paintbrush blades would be an awesome addition to your set as well. For scrolls, you definitely NEED a multi-use healer, holy deluge or tera focujin are the best cheap options for that. One use scrolls, like Survivor said, come with beating more opponents.
Natasha vs PBow is a never ending debate. They're both great weapons and their both super expensive lol. For now focusing on rounding out your set a bit, and if you battle hard during plots and events with special challengers, you should be able to score some decent weapons for no cost but your time :).
When it comes to beating specific opponents that are just at the tip of your ability (like those tough ones in plots and events), a lot of times you might have to rely on borrowing weapons, because you'll generally need the really expensive god/demi-god weapons with specific icon typings. Luckily the battle community is fantastic and you can usually find someone to lend you something pretty darn quickly. In fact there is a whole thread dedicated to it.
Huh, yeah, its stats are definitely worth trading out for the trident. I do actually have a Malignant Staff I can play with, I'll switch out my set and see how that goes. I've been putting off getting a Phoenix Quill since I figured I had the Reviver of the Lion, but two revives are better than one, sure. Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I'm on the fence about PBow and Natasha, but you bring up a good point about the syringe. It's definitely worth a look, thanks! I've heard good commentary about the paintbrushes, they sound intriguing.
I'm partial to the Assassin scroll because it does some damage (6 or so icons ish) plus heal on every turn, even though the healing sometimes is zero or a bit negative. I've found the benefits outweigh the negatives and it's nice to be able to add an extra bit of hit and heal. But with some of the better healing/blocking scrolls, maybe I won't need it so much.
Trident does seem to be the consensus. I guess I didn't test it long enough to see the benefits. xD I have seen a lot of commentary on the energized helmet, it'll take me a bit of time to earn the tokens for it but I think I'll put it on my list. I don't have a dedicated freezer now which would be immensely helpful.. Thanks for the scroll advice! I've been putting that off as well since I've got such low AP, but if I can wedge a few extra in then I'll have a better pool to work with.
I've lurked the battle threads, definitely, but I'm not a super great poster. I'll have to dive in sometime and say hi and introduce myself properly. :)
Thanks!
My personal favorite dual-duty attackers at T11 are Malignant Rift Staff and Paintbrush Blades. The extra healing from their blessings comes in handy. (The Rift Staff starts healing 9% every time you use it at T11. I didn't like it much at T10 because it lacked that heal and I couldn't count on the blessing.) I sometimes use Blessed Trident with my T11s because it works better against certain opponents. For instance, I've been using it and the Ice King Clawed Gloves against Ice King.
My default T10 set was Blessed Trident and Prodigy Staff. Prodigy Staff comes in handy against particular opponents, but I mostly used it because I already had it from before the tiers were implemented. A better strategist might give it a better review or thumbs down. -shrugs-
Also, I'd like to mention that I use the heck out of potions, pylonics, shards, and scrolls. Vaako's got a Terra Focujin and *Death Delusion equipped 95% of the time. I switch out my high-percentage freezing scrolls or my blocking scrolls depending upon the opponent... Freezing scrolls are hard to come by but since the Colbalt Eternals are in the Millionaire Center right now I would suggest getting a couple more while you can. A good scroll selection can really help, especially if it's an opponent you can almost beat otherwise.
(*I use Death Delusion because, again, I had it and it's got a chance to freeze. I typically use it to add an extra few icons while an opponent is frozen and hope it gives me an extra freeze. There are other scrolls that work in a similar fashion.)
Oh sweet, thank you for the advice. I splurged on paintbrushes yesterday for when I get to tier 11, and I already have a rift staff to play with; I'm glad to know others think the paintbrushes are worth it. The rift staff didn't seem all that great when I tried it at tier 9, but it's definitely getting better the higher in level I get.
Yeah, my next goal is Terra Focujin. I don't have enough AP to carry around more than one Cobalt Eternal, but there's no reason I can't buy a few and tuck them away for later, that's a good idea. I haven't even thought about scrolls like Death Delusion, thanks for that! One reason I like Assassin is because it hits for 17+ icons, plus heal, although the chance for freezing would be really handy.
