This is my very first attempt at making a custom item, and I am totally clueless. My very best friend loves Kakashi from the Naruto series. She dresses her HA like him all the time. I would love to have a custom item made of his forehead protector so she can complete his look. I am looking for an artist, but any advice or help would be greatly appreciated :)
(I think I found someone :) )
I don't know if you read the custom clothing page, usually helpful for commissioning things.
Just an FYI as this would be a tribute item, you would need to make 4 changes to the CW, so for instance changing the insignia would probably be one change, and either the shape or color of the metal or band, etc.. it would ultimately be your call on what 4 changes you would give to the item.
I'm not an artist, wish I could help more. Also make sure to read the stickies on wearables both in the commissions forum and the custom clothing forum, it'll help you get a better feel for everything.
Thank you so much for the help and advice. Wow 4 changes! The item is so small. I am not even sure there are 4 things to change about it, and still have it work for her HA. If I find an artist, maybe they will have some ideas :)
Thanks again!
Yeah, tribute items can be tough and even tougher when they're small. I had a crop top idea from a lifetime movie, and even though not many people would even know the reference, I feel like because I've seen it in a movie it would be a tribute and I would need to implement the 4 changes, but I just don't know how I would do that, so I basically gave up on it.
You shouldn't give up if it is something you really want. Is something like that really considered a tribute item? I love cute tops. Please let me know if you have it made :D
I'm kinda tempted to ask about that but I'm afraid that if I ask the obvious answer would be that if it is in a movie that yes it is. But I'm almost certain that if it is something that is recognizable or based on an anime that it would be considered tribute. I know I was wondering why I hadn't yet seen any naruto headplates yet, but it's possible if other people had the idea for it they may have given up due to the fact that making 4 changes in a small item might be difficult, but as far as I recall it's kind of a rounded off rectangular plate with an insignia and a band on the sides but also has the 3 rivets on each side so three changes there could be that the insignia is different, the shape of the plate can be oval and the band holding it can be different than the normal navy and have it either without any rivets holding it on the band or even do it like one rivet on each side. And instead of the navy band color make it like cream or arid or something.
And if they like kakashi enough that they wouldn't mind you could do the headband with the hair and have the hair a different color (like white rather than grey) and that might be considered enough of a change that it would count towards one of the 4. It's tricky but with some things you can make a bit of a change.
I would think that unless it was specific and unique to that character then it wouldn't be a tribute item (like the headplate). I honestly don't see how a crop top fits in with that. Since I have no idea what the shirt looks like I can't really say. I know nothing about copyright laws and things like that. It couldn't hurt to ask.
Thanks for the tips about the headplate :)
Yeah.
My item is
And I mean there really isn't much I can change to it and keep the same item, I mean sure I can change color but I mostly like the overall look so I don't even know how I could do that. Plus if people were to ever want a black version, what would I do then? And I would be okay without doing the sleeves, but the main thing I like about it is the line thing in the middle and the bandeau look, so I mean I could maybe always commission them as separates but that too is a pain for me. So we'll see, it's on the shelf for now, I might just go and ask, because it's not really a movie many people would recognize it's more of an about-this-person's-life movie and not many people watch them or remember them.
